I'm going to bring frags of Blasto Merleti tomorrow:
Lite red almost pink
Blue centers

I also have a few tree corals.

I had a large colony of Red Acanthastrea Echinata that I was going to frag but every since that pods/plant order the corals in my tank have been doing bad and I lose the whole colony which was pretty large alone with half of a Lob H. colony.

I poured the pods and the water into my tank. I think because he collect from the local water there may have been something in the water and my reef tank is small so it had a big impact. All my reading are good and the I have very low nitrates but I have hair algae and the algae growth on the front glass of the tank alot more than before, where I actually didn't have hardly any. The thing is some of my corals are doing better then ever while others have closed up and a couple have died. I;ve done a # of water changes and have placed poly pads, Phos pads and Sea Chem removal products to try and remove what ever got into the water. I'm going to place some more small hermits and hopefully they'll get rid of some of the hair alage.

Too bad there is noway of filtering the pods out and get rid of the water. That way you don't need to contaiment your reef.

Oh by the way, what is the coral you have on your avater? I have a similar one but white..

It not the pods that causing the problem it the water.

It can also be that I got a coral and the person that sent it to me did a bad job of shipping and the bag broken leaving the coral out of water and cold. The coral died off and bleached in my tank. He then sent me a replacement and once again the shipping suck and the bag broke leaving the coral out of water and cold. I put the coral in my tank and it also died and bleached. I'm not sure if that was the cause of the problems I'm having as it was at the same time as I got the pods and nobody else that got the pods has had a problems.

So I'm not really sure what the problem is from but I've done a # of water changes and hopefully what ever is cause the problem will be removed over time. The funny thing is some of my corals, specially all my blasto, are doing great.

marrone, I was talking about getting rid of the water. Not the pods.. :D

Oh, I thought that as soon as you adding the pods/plant in, your coral died on you. So its most likely the shipping.. Got it.

I have a feeling the water had some time in it as I'm getting alot of algae growth specially on the front glass and it's growing pretty fast. I never had this problem before. I think the water had phosphate in it and that what causing the problem now, I don't have a phosphate kit to check it but I really don't know what else it could be.

BC I hold one for you. I'm going to frag them now and try to get a bunch for everyone.

Sam

Yes it the blue ring, I think there really is only 1 type if blue ring Blasto M. I do have a green rim with a neon green center that I've never seen anywhere else, but it's not ready for fragging.

Right now I have 3 frags of the Blue ring and can't find the frag of the lite red or pink one.

Shaun I'll either trade you or sell it to you, I would take some zoo's but I'm having problems with my tank and the zoo's aren't doing well, I think I introducted phosphate into the tank and some of the corals don't like it.

I'll have more Blasto M. frags in the next week or so, so anyone that doesn't get a frag I'll make them available.

Michael
