it provides a means by which reefers have a little extra control over their reefs.
timer for lights, calcium reactor, skimmer etc.. I use it as a timer for my lights.
should the power go off ,I have the skimmer on delay.
should PH reach a certain level in the calcium reactor, it shuts CO2 off. should temperature in the tank go above a certain number lights are shut off. and a few other tricks. Its a controller that provides one unit for several functions.

hope this helps.

Dual Stage Ranco Controller $128.99 (Controls your heater and fan / chiller)
Two Home Depot Timers $30.00 (Primary / Actinic Lights)

or

Reef Keeper Lite $99.99

In addition to the fact that it's cheaper than the alternatives, you can add modules for ATO, pH, ORP, Salinity, etc. at a later time if you decide to.

i have the reefkeeper elite and i love it. it does everything i want. mine controls the 3 separate lights i have, the temp because alot of heaters dont have good thermostats so this reefkeeper keeps my temp so perfect i only see it drop about .1 a day and then i 5 minutes it will be back up again. also it controls my auto top off system and i also have a pH probe attached to it and it graphs my temp and pH. without this thin i probly wouldve quit the hobby already and i only started november 5th. i love it so much and i would really recommend the reefkeeper system. the lite does the same stuff just thats its limited to 4 modules which your probably wont use anyway i just got the elite because of the bigger screen and easier navagation.
