I noticed for the first time in my tank (probably because I have never been up so late after the lights went out) that there are probably a few dozen "bristleworms" in my tank. They are blackish with a slightly orange tip, and resemble centipedes that are about an inch long. They are only the glass and sandbed. I am unable to take clear pictures. From what I have briefly described, are these bristleworms. And if so, what should I do about them. They are disgusting.

I don't know about blackish with orange tip..bristle worms to my knowledge or atleast the ones in my tank are pink with whiteish "bristles" and kind of flat. However there is many different kinds of worms and such I'm sure other people will chime in..where's Alfie when you need him lol

I have the ones that Triggerman described. I also want to know if they are OK to keep in the tank. I have been taking them out as I see them.

You are describing one of the fireworms (what we commonly call bristleworms). The little orange/black ones stay the size you currently see (1 inch or so). They are good for your tank in reasonable numbers.
Too many of them are a sign of a tank that is bring overfed. Their population is self limiting based upon available food. If you want less worms, don't overfeed.

..and be careful not to touch them! :Yikes:
