I've never been...Who's gone? What do you think? Do they even have a real reef?
I've always heard not so great things, which has been the main deterrent for me, but I don't see why NYC (the largest city by population in the us with nearly 47 million foreign and American tourists each year.) can't have one of the biggest, baddest Aquariums in the country.
Atlanta which is 1/15th the size of NYC has the largest aquarium in the WORLD. I personally don't see the draw in a 500,000 gallon shark tank. I hate seeing top predators removed from the food chain and think they can do much more with the $150 million in renovations. Give any MR member a mere $200,000 and see what kind of a reef tank exhibit could be created. I feel the NY Aquarium has taken the back burner as far as attractions go in NYC and I'd love to see it brought more to the front.
