just wanted to know what the best power compact bulbs are out there? i usually use t-5 on all my tanks, but my 29 bio-cube, i cant find a conversion, and i cant afford the LED upgrade, so what good power compacts are out there? only brands i see really are coralife, catilena, odyssea, and a few other random brands i never heard of. i hate all of them. right now i am running the coralife new purple actinic power compact, and coralife 10k. the actinic is so fadded and the white is over powering. i switched the 10k to a 50/50, but then its too dark. so, what brands are out there to look for a good power compact? i was thinking about trying aquaticlife... but what other good ones are out there? dont care about price.

PC bulbs will work fine in the cube for softies and lps.

I avoid Coralife bulbs as there have been comparisons in the past that showed they had lower PAR than other brands. Other than that... meh. Unless you're using the higher wattage bulbs 65watts and up, I don't think there's any significant difference. Some of the higher watt bulbs have internal reflectors which improves the ligt output.

I had a 29g nano with 130 watt of pc lighting and I was growing digitata, caps, tubinaria a variety of softies and lps for years. I just used generic bulbs from www.hellolights.com. I'd buy'em in bulk once a year when they went on sale for $10 each.

I have biocube 29 with upgrade 3.36w, I replaced POS PC to PC-R - WOW.

It is HUGE different! nice COLOR

nanotuners.com and click (left side upper) PC-R.

I have (2) dual actinic and 12K white actinic.

I have some SPS and it grows good...but no for clams.

I would suggest 12K PCR and dual actinic.

PM me if you need more infos.

I'm not really too concerned about what I can keep in the tank or not. I have sps and clams already in it for awhile now doing great. I have upgraded leds in it, its more of just color. The tank just looks just plain when my whites come on.
