I've had about 40lbs of it sitting in my sump for nearly two months now. This after soaking, bleaching, and air drying (I removed quite a bit of old dried gunk doing this). Early in Jan., I'll use about a third of it to augment the LR I've had in my 40g 'LPS' tank. The rest stays where it is until needed.

All things considered, dried rock is only slightly less work than the so-called real deal, imo.

If you are in a rush to get things started, Of course there's no point of using dry rocks. At half of the cost, it will serve well if you are going for a large amount of rocks.

So I can see NO point in using dry rock if it has to cure for 2 months. Might as well use live rock and cure it or by fully cured live rock, IMO.
