Aqua Controller and Mac

I have the Apex controller and hooked it up through an ethernet to my Airport Express on my Mac. The controller seems to be working on it's own but I can't access it on my computer. I followed a few threads on RC and still no luck. Does anyone have experience with this?

Yes I am using that exact configuration.

You have the port on the Apex connected to the AE? That would imply you are either using WDS or regular wifi extension, which one?

What's the specific problem?

I think the most common problem is that with the mac you have to use the specific ip addess, not //apex. Unless you know how to set that up prior to plugging it into your network.

Can you set the Apex to have a Static IP? I like to use mac filtering for network security reasons.

OK first off, I don't know a whole lot about computers and I am vey new to MAc. ( I made a mistake on the original post. It's an Airport Extreme not Express, Don't know if that makes a difference.) I connected an ethernet cable from the Apex base to 1 of 4 ports on the back of the Extreme. I turned the DHCP off on the Apex and I changed the last 2 digits of the IP address. (e.g. 10.0.1.50 instead of 10.0.1.1) Then I restarted the Apex and tried to connect to the Apex by putting in the IP address in the browser and it doesn't connect. Sorry for the long winded but what am I doing wrong?

Was it working when you had the .1 address. This isn't really a "mac" problem, its just networking in general.

If it was, any specific reason your changing it? Sorry for questions to your questions, but it does help to figure out whats going on.

In the mean time. I would just turn on DHCP and let the "router" (the Airport extreme) assigned the IP it wants. Get that working first. You can see what IP the Apex gets assigned on the controller itself, I think under setup. Also see what port number it's using, sometimes if it's other then port 80, you have to type in the port number. e.g. 10.0.1.1:8080 where 8080 is the port which is showing on the apex.

call curt or eugene tomm at neptune. he can help you out. he can tell you how to configure everything. they were a big help. i had problems with my pc and they stayed on the phone till it was fixed

No it defaults to port 80 on initial setup.

Regarding the IP address you set. I was under the impression that the Airports assigned addresses from 10.1.1.1-254. Are you sure about 10.0.1.50?

On your Mac, open System Preferences, select Network, it should list your IP address there on that page. Reply with it here.

Now I turned off the DHCP and it assigned it to 10.0.1.104. I restarted it and put this IP address in the browser and still nothing. I guess I'll try to call neptune today

Turn on DHCP. Verify the IP address on your computer as I mentioned above. Report back here with your IP address.

Just got off the phone with Neptune and we determined that the connection is there but my Mac or the Airport extreme won't let me access it. He said maybe a firewall is blocking me or there is something else blocking me. The IP address on the Mac is 10.0.1.100

Do you have access to another laptop? If so plug that in, if you get internet access it's probably not a firewall issue.

I don't have a laptop but my iphone and ipod touch connect. Is that the same?

The Mac is wired into the Airport Extreme? It is not connected wirelessly?

What port is the Mac connected to and what port is the Apex connected to?

The Mac is connected wirelessly and they are both on port 80. The apex is wired to the Airport. I also turned off the firewall and it still did not work. ????

I would try plug your Mac into the router and turnoff wireless on the Mac. If you can't get that working then your probably plugging into the wrong port or your router ethernet port is busted.
