I recently got an acan mail order it didn't look great on arrival but I figured give it a few days to adjust and see what happens. I look at my tank in the middle of the night and it's all disgusting cloudy as hell stinking like rotting flesh. The acan is just falling apart crumbling everywhere, my son lost the cards for my test kit and my ro/di is shot so I am pretty much F'd some of my corals are starting to not look so good. I put in some brightwell phosphate remover and instant ocean natural nitrate reducer but it seems like things are getting progressively worse. IF anyone in queens has some pre mixed saltwater I will gladly pay for the salt mix in cash or a frag.

I have about 20-30 gallons ro in my top off and reserve you could have but you gotta pick up after 730
you could have for free just need big containers
text me 917 770 9857

Most LFS's will sell you rodi water and you could probably get some mixed SW from them too.

Have you added carbon - that would be a good first step - lots of it!

Good luck!

Adding more to the soup when a crisis like this happens will only serve to make things worse. Livestock is already stressed and parameters are probably at the extremes, the goal is to remove, not add. Your best bet for saving as much as possible in an event like this is to add fresh carbon and get a few water changes going. So you weren't doing yourself any favors dumping stuff in but as long as you get the water changes going asap you might be able to save some of what's left.

Ordering corals online can sometimes be a crap shoot as we all know. I don't know how much experience you have with getting corals shipped but sometimes, it's better to not add questionable specimens rather than risk an imbalance in a small system. Like Kathy, said if you can get out, most stores carry RO, but time is key here.

Thanks to everyone who offered water and gave advice! My car is totally buried so I am stuck. I have just been making tap salt water all day. I really need to figure out wtf is up w/ this rodi I got a booster pump and it doesn't do anything. Maybe someone in the area w/ rodi experience can help me out. I always used tap water because this rodi sucks and never had problems. Those that have seen my set ups know they are top notch and all my corals look amazing. This is the only issue I have really had. This is why I hate ordering stuff online! UGH! DAMNN YOU ACAN ADDICTIONNNNNNNNN!

Oh and george I'm sorry buddy but there is no way in hell I'd take water out of that ocean lol Id probably be better off using water from my toilet. HAHA

It may be saltwater by te time you pick it up. I was going to do a 40% W/C tomorrow.

Thanks everyone.. I'm trying to get it under control I threw on a aquaclear w/ carbon and zeolite before I even posted and added the brightwell phosphate remover and nitrate remover just to start fighting the problem. My son lost most of the cards for my test kits so I have no idea what my phosphates are at but nitrite and nitrate were through the friggin roof as high as they can go! I had also added a aqua c remora as an extra skimmer. I'm not new to this I know what I'm doing just didn't have water. I usually have a 45 gallon garbage can filled w/ water but my luck that recently sprung a leak and made a mess of my kitchen. Then I was using my old 55 just to hold water.. my display reservoir w/custom stand and canopy haha. But I gues when I threw my mag 12 (yes overkill I know lol) in there to make water I guess it was dirty inside or something because the water got all nasty..slimy foamy brown like a skimmer. I guess I turned it into a skimmer accidentally with all that power and the way it was pointed. That happened to me with my overflow once on 1 of my other tanks, my sock was bubbling up. I actually took a video I should post it. Anyone else ever have that happen?

As far as progress I got bucket w/ powerheads mixing salt water so I'll be doing a 10 gallon change in a lil bit and more throughout the night.

Update:
Nitrates are down to about I'm thinking 80 from 160+
Nitrite went from 5.0+ -about 2.0
2 skimmers kicking plus the AC hang on.
Everything seems to be doing ok. I'm mixing more saltwater and will be doing another change probably in a few hours because I'm sure I'm not sleeping again.
Gotta love reefing!
