Ok, I give up! I have NO idea where my blue hippo went!! I have a deep established 150 gal fowlr tank and recently added a few fish. (mated clown fish, sailfin tang) I am not sure what happened, everything was reading ok, i moved the rock around so there were no territories....
I must have had an ammonia spike because 2 days ago my hippo started acting strange then last night he just flipped out! All the other fish are fine...
So here's the thing. I scooped him gently in a net and put him in my HOB refugium (My QT tank is down), and proceeded to do a water change, its not ideal but I did what I could do.
This morning...he's gone! Nowhere to be found! Not in the refugium, Not back in the tank, not on the floor, no mess on the floor.....I do have dogs and they sniff everything...if he was on the ground and eaten they would be there all day....nope! Had both dogs right there...no sniffing at all......WHERE DID MY HIPPO GO???
Am I going to be haunted by the ghost of my hippo? Are fish ghosts scary? Cause I have killed a few over the years and they may have finally had enough and are coming back for me! ;)
I'm seriously perplexed.....

I found him!! ALIVE! He is in the refugium wedged in some ungodly area. I assume I just leave him alone right?

@lfsmarineguy-Hilarious! That's what it feels like! Ninja Hippo! (His new name if he survives!)
No, Ninja was first, sailfin is new...
Any advice about ammonia spikes, just water changes right? I don't want to drive the new fish crazy.
