Yes, the fish is eating well and behaving like always. The black spots showed up yesterday and the fungus(?) showed up 3 days ago. She hosts a torch Coral

My clown is doing the same very active, eats like a pig..it has had this fungus or whatever for several months I thnk it started in December. I have just been doing water changes and feeding varied diet like Kat said I think eventually it will go away. Although I was thinking about trying an antifungal remedy just because it has been going on for so long and hasn't gone away yet.

As for the dynamic duo..

I think they mean a store will take the fish back for FREE medicate them then sell them. I know fishtown has taken in some beat up fish treated them and then sold them after. I can't possibly imagine a store PAYING for a sick or diseased fish. It's not in their interest to do so because if the fish dies while they are trying to treat it then they are out money they could have used to buy the fish wholesale it doesn't make sense.

Fungus in a SW tank is a very unusual thing to see due to, well, the salt content in the tank.

It looks more to me like a wound. To treat a wound the best thing to do is insure you have outstanding water quality. If you run carbon, you might consider changing it and I would suggest a large water change and then another one a couple of days later.
I would do nothing to stress the fish further as in chasing it down and moving it to a hospital tank or adding Melafix or Primafix.

Pristine water and a good varied diet (multiple times daily) are in the fishes best interest right now. You need to watch for a bacterial infection at the site (redness or the area grows in size), if that happens you would have to remove the fish to try & treat it but hopefully you won't get to that point and since the fish is well established in your tank, food & excellent water quality are your best options right now.

As far as the black spots - that could be due to the frogspawn hosting. Contrary to popular belief, sensitivity to stings in a fish tank increase as time goes by, they do not necessarily decrease. Since you mention that
the black spots showed up after the other issue, I'd venture a guess that the fish is being overly sensitive due to the fuzzy spot issue.

Thanks Kathy. I did a w/c last night and I'll do one in a couple of day and keep a close eye on her. I hope it's nothing more than an injury, I'm in the process of switching over to my new tank and don't want to bring an infected fish over to the new tank. But worst case scenario, I could leave her in there and use the 90 as a hospital tank.

And as for the dynamic-duo. I'm more interested in saving and healing
my fish than to just drop them off and say here you deal with it.
