This fuzzy spot appeared on my clown fish a couple of days ago. Does anyone have any idea what it is and what I can do about it? Also she is a little blotchy.

I don't have the slightest clue of what it is
can't argue with you, on that one!
She's been in my tank for over two years

so idk ... maybe you should just return it

i said i remember reading somewhere not 100% sure and some pet stores will take sick fish and resell them so im not entirely wrong.
Thanks Rick for the Link. It was good info. And thanks Alfie for chiming in, I think some people just post to post and don't read or really know what they are talking about.

it definitly looks like a fungus, the meds mentioned earlier works great for fungal infections, also if you can get him out, put it in a qt tank and treat it,

i like theraP from ecolabs and lifegaurd from intant ocean.. easy to use, and it works well..
the meds mentioned before and what i just told you abt can all be bought at pet smart if your lfs isnt open late or doesnt cary it.. but do something soon.

i waited 1 day too long and lost a platnum and a picasso abt a month ago..

good luck

im not completely wrong because i know a lfs that takes in sick fish and makes them have a full recovery for 6 months and resells them and makes sure they are not sick before they sell them.
I'm sure every fish store would love to take back a sick fish and resell it. Yeah I guess you are completely wrong.

Fungus in a SW tank is a very unusual thing to see due to, well, the salt content in the tank.

It looks more to me like a wound. To treat a wound the best thing to do is insure you have outstanding water quality. If you run carbon, you might consider changing it and I would suggest a large water change and then another one a couple of days later.
I would do nothing to stress the fish further as in chasing it down and moving it to a hospital tank or adding Melafix or Primafix.

Pristine water and a good varied diet (multiple times daily) are in the fishes best interest right now. You need to watch for a bacterial infection at the site (redness or the area grows in size), if that happens you would have to remove the fish to try & treat it but hopefully you won't get to that point and since the fish is well established in your tank, food & excellent water quality are your best options right now.

As far as the black spots - that could be due to the frogspawn hosting. Contrary to popular belief, sensitivity to stings in a fish tank increase as time goes by, they do not necessarily decrease. Since you mention that
the black spots showed up after the other issue, I'd venture a guess that the fish is being overly sensitive due to the fuzzy spot issue.
