Does anyone know, is the mushroom(pink) below is fragable? If so, would the rubberband trick work on them? It's almost 4 inches in diameter when fully open and i don't see new mushroom growing out.....just keep growing bigger and bigger..... I know most mushroom will be fine if you frag it but it's too nice, won't want to risk killing it if it's not possible. Thanks

All mushrooms are fraggable, just cut them in two and keep the pieces pinned down somewhere in the tank. However, if it is an important piece, I wouldn't cut it, since there is always a risk involved with any fragging procedure of losing the coral.

Since mushrooms grow fast, I would just let it multiply on its own, if it was me. JM 2c,

Sam,

If you just put it in high flow (not shredding flow) it will leave its spot and leave behind a clone of itself. You can however cut it if you want to and it will heal into 2 seperate shrooms. You just have to have good water quality in order for it to heal fast and properly.

you can make cuts around the base of the shroom. These will want to get out from under the parent colony to get light and you will have more shrooms without having to damage the cap of the parent colony. They are also much less likely to fuse back together like what usually happens if you just cut the entire shroom into halves. This technique has worked the best and fastest for me and there is no need to try to rubberband or tie anything down. Good luck:)

Thanks guys for all the info. The mushroom has been in my tank for 9 months and no new shrooms grow out at all. So am probably trying the powerhead method and slicing method and see how both method work. Thanks a bunch, kasei, shaun, and Chris for the valuable info. I'm ready to frag them, just gotta go get the razor blade from home depot...hehaheae :D :D :D more shrooms shrooms shrooms :D

FastUno, sent you a pm.
