Congrats to you!! I hadn’t met you before today, what should I call you?
The name is Catfish.
Can you tell us how you first got into the hobby?
I got a free tank from a guy in my neighborhood who was gunna throw it out, it was real smelly but he told me I just could take it home and wash it out real good and add this stuff he had in a bottle and I could put the rocks back in it and even fish on the same day. Oh yeah, he gave me a tank that goes under the big tank too. He even gave me a pic of it cause he said it would make me understand everything better.
I see, so how well did that work?
Well, my BBQ brush was in good shape from last summer so I used that to scrape the smelly stuff off the rocks, I mixed up some water in the bath-tub, with the salt ya know, and put it all in the tank with that bottle of stuff.
Heres a pic of how she came out, looks good huh?... for the first day, and it was all ready for fish then!
Tell us what kind of equipment you have for the tank Catfish?
Equipment? Well, I got the tank and the sumo thing and a light, and the salt you know.
Great the lighting!! What type do you have and where did you get it?
I got the light from this short dude who was selling it. He said not everyone has this kind, but it’s really sturdy, and the price was great.
Nice huh? The chain is easy to reach too, it ends just above the water!
He was kinda rude though cause he kept talking on his cell phone, he must do some business in lights man! He was talking about this dude Kelvin Par, over and over, he must know a lot about lights. Maybe you know him, I got a pic of him on my cell…I think his screen name is Photon-Man.
Do you have any fish in the tank yet?
No, none yet but that Photon guy hooked me up with this dude named Richard or Dick or something out on the West Coast who told me I should get cuddly fish and I figure that is something a girl should do so I asked my GF to pick out some fish and she picked these 2 cause she liked the colors. I’m gunna order about 4 of each I think, will do that soon.
I looked the guy up on the net, looks like he is really into the hobby!
How interesting, well, what about corals, do you have any of those?
Lol, this is some hobby, everybody knows each other… the same Photon dude with the light, well, he hooked me up with this guy from Brooklyn called Pratt and he had this coral, lots of ‘em and told me I could have as many as I wanted, it looks like a beige tree! I figured it would look great with my girls cuddly fish, so I met up with him. I didn’t get to see his fish tank, I think there was maybe a problem with it, cause he made me meet him downstairs, I really felt like he was hiding something from me, but cool dude, he gave me so many of these beige looking trees! Do you think he looks like he is up to something?
Anyway, I got a pic of it but I started to get this green stuff growing around it, this was the only one left when I took the pic
And then the green stuff really started to grow, it was amazing. It’s really cool to watch it wave back and forth! Leaving the light on really helped it grow fast!
Wow, that really is a ….lush tank! Did you finally get rid of the algae?
Yeah, these small tan flowers started to pop up and the algae just started dying off, my girl really likes the flowers growing in there, and there were these green things growing too. I called that Pratt guy and he told me they are green palys, man can he talk corals, he went on and on and on about letting the corals grow out before I cut 'em up… anyway nice that I have real corals now and when I have enough I’m gunna sell a bunch of them on Manhattan Reefs, I’m gunna make a small fortune, I might even buy a vendor forum to sell them on! Here check ‘em out..
How..ummm… nice…ummm…so are your ....ummm....corals thriving in there?
Oh yeah, you can see then growing on the rocks, well it’s been getting a little cloudy, but if you look real close you can see them!
Oh I see, well I don’t want to keep you all day but in closing I do want to ask what Manhattan Reefs means to you and how it helps you?
Oh man, it’s a great site I am on there all day and all night! What cool people they are , they know so much and are so cool to hang with. We talk about tech stuff and music and find cool You Tube videos and at night we play video games as a team..it’s a great place!
I never would have found my new flat screen TV for such a great price if it wasn’t for Manhattan Reefs!! Thanks Guys and Happy April Fools Day!
