I know it's a free site ect, but who else is tired of seeing people just post stuff f\s and bringing nothing else to the site ? yes the benifit it might save someone some money but when thats all they do is come here to sell because their local site makes them be a paid member or the other site makes you wait x amount of days and have x amount of post. Recently a person who never post tried to pawn of a regualr chalice as a tyree for stupid money and got caught, and only other post was him trying to sell a pump. I mean come on this isnt a bad site, alot of info and cool people, spend a little time on here and try to give a little info or learn a little, this isnt craigslist

I can totally respect that , we as the consumer have to also do our research as to who these people are and give them a descent one over to see who we are dealing with, unfortunately we have to take the good with the bad, but I totally see your point. Good post.

500 posts before marketplace. Sooo many other forums are like this, not only fish. Car forums, atv forums, ect. These forums are not mainly for marketplaces. We have respectful members on here that might be in the search of something, and someone else might be selling that items, but someone with 2 posts will end up buying it. It's unfair.

500 post minimum before able to view marketplace. Anyone else agree?

500 is quite alot of posts, don't you think? You never know how much someone can contribute...especially if they are new. As a person sorta new to reefing, it was very helpful to have access to used good equipment when I first started. I think maybe it would be good to let people view the marketplace from the start, but not allow them to start for sale threads for 3-6 months.

This is a good idea. It also makes it easier to spot post whores who are just trying to build up their posts to participate in the marketplace.

Rick I agree, people make new accounts on here who were banned for selling stuff on the Marketplace just to make $$ of people. 500 post is not too much before he/she can see the marketplace. I still remember when I first joined this site, the site was about helping each other learn the hobby and meet fellow reefers and who share the same interest as you are. I met a lot of great people through here and have become good friends with them and now there's more members who just want to make this reefing a business not a hobby!

Maybe 500 is too much. It took me a while to get to this many posts, and I really feel like I only recently have been able to contribute enough. But, if there was a post count, I wouldn't have been able to buy my set up and most of my equipment.

I suppose if you could buy and not sell until you reach your post count that would be ok too.

post counts don't necessarily mean anything if its worthless (which i have to read)...i would know some noobs to post 50 "id this" in one night just to get rights to the marketplace.

If someone really wanted to sell stuff on here they could post meaningless posts until they hit their target number to unlock marketplace and then just post stuff for sale. There should be some sort of minimum percentage of posts in other forums compared to the marketplace on a monthly basis in order to keep the market place access. Could be hard to iron out set rules, but might be worth looking into.

my guess is you'll see 500 posts of nudibar posts/spam and then they'll start selling. half the people on this thread don't even have 500 posts

also, when I was a newbie, I bought and sold a bunch of corals on the marketplace which let me get to know a lot of other members. I'd imagine other members had similar experience which the 500 post count rule would have deprived them of.

Although this is just my opinion.
