true lumen strips are 10" and too long for the fluval. These are 6" which is a perfect fit for the stock lighting arm.

I've read that the PAR on these strips are 150. I'm reading that is too low for corals. Is that true? I was hoping to keep mostly softies anyways but wanted to try sps on the very top of the rock as close to the light as possible.

These are moonlight and 3 strips does not add up enough power to support corals in your tank.
Did you check with the manufacturer how much power they are?

The plastic backing does not allow the LEDs to be too high powered because it cannot dissipate the heat. From the picture, they look like SMD5050 chip and with this few chips, they are not meant to grow corals.

Probably against the rules to link to another reef forum but you can google it Wingo. There's a tank that is doing well under these lights. The corals are all softies but that's what I'm planning. Granted they do daily water changes, if the lights were completely inadequate, I'm sure it would show with the corals in the tank. The tank these lights are currently on is a bit taller than the edge as well so hopefully that will be beneficial. I'm gonna do some more research and try to decide on this light situation asap. I cant stand looking a this empty tank!

I see members mentioned about Reef central and Nanoreefs all time so I guess posting links of other web is not a problem.

If you do get them, let me check the par for you.

The ecoxotic team says the par is 150 for 1 12k strip. I know that very low from what I'm reading. Not sure where in the tank they are measuring the par. If it's at the bottom of the ecopico tank, then I assume it would be higher for the edge as it's not as tall.

Does the par increase with additional lighting (strips) or does that not matter?
