I'm sure copperbands work great. I just can 't support it in a 34 solana.
Plus the Filefish was free and had a history of ridding the tanks, it has been in so far of Aiptasia. Now I can give it to somone else that needs it and get it back again if I need it.

thnks. well i ll see if the copper band works first. I wouldnt mind a copperband in my tank anyway lol..they're beautiful fish.

I have a 90gallon with lots of tunnels and spaces in the rock structure for them to swim. Also i have no fish. i lost them to ich a couple months ago and havent bought another fish since. so i think ill be able to keep it just fine.

I wouldn't suggest the copperband route at all, honestly. I am sure that there are plenty of people that have been successful with them but far more end up with them starving after the Aiptasia is gone. I have used the AiptasiaX successfully a couple of times but I also know others that it hasn't worked for.

Why not try the filefish? If it has been proven to eat Aiptasia it sounds like the easiest solution to me. They are also pretty easy to catch once they are done with the job.

This may sound silly, in the past I've taken the rock out and I squirt super glue in the small area that it occupies. I'll let the glue cure in the dry for a few mins. Seemed to work very well, even with hydroids.

Think of it as being entombed in frag glue.
This does not sound silly at all. I have done this before.
There were far too many out of reach ones this time
But once you have Aiptasia, it's an ongoing issue. Aside form drying the rock. I don't think there is any way to pemanantly get rid of it. It's always there,,, waiting,,, Until you think you got it all this time,,, and WHAM!!! you see a new one.:bigeyes2:

just get three peppermints, they should eat them all! I had the same problem you have, 5 aptasia to 50 then a 100 over 3 months, joes juices worked on the big ones, but it was amazing to watch the shrimp eat the aptasia.Just dont feed your tank UNTILL THE SHRIMP LEARN TO EAT THEM ,after a month, just set a net in there with some brine shrimp deep in it then scoop the peppermints out.
Theyhvent touched any of my palys, polyps or anything else.
