it's brown with some bubbles and stringy causing zoas etc.. to keep closed it's dino...DON"T use red slime remover!.....water changes, carbon maybe increase or change more often your phosban...it's caused by high phos, nitrates, silicates etc...even though your test kits are reading zero they are there because the dino is growing....

turning the lights off for a few days may or may not help...it never did for me, but a few days w/o lights may effect some corals. Whenever I get dinos I do daily 5-7 gallon water changes siphoning the sand along with an old toothbrush on the rocks getting out as much as I could...along with my usual weekly water change does the trick in a week or so....got them the last time from over dosing AAs and feeding too much...

Turning your lights off doesnt rid you of the problem, it masks it.

As soon as you reintroduce your original lighting cycle back in you'll have a repeat performance of the nuisance you're trying to get rid of. You have to rid the system of whats causing it by narrowing it down. Once you find out what it is you can then use any chemicals or what not to keep it away.

Good luck

Large wc's won't help cause it may cause a mini-cycle.Smaller ones and use good carbon cause all will leach Po4's back into the tank.If it's Dino Flagellates,it's a tough one to get rid of.They feed on iron and wc's make it worse.Gotta starve it out.Getting the PH like to 8.6 will help too short term.

Nope.Tried the lights off for 24 hours but it comes back. There was one thing I bought that kind of worked which was some German Product called Ultra Algae X.it's very potent and if used wrong,it can kill your fish.
