Eating my algea :(

My fish keep eating my fern algea and my grape algea. How do I keep them from eating my algae? And where can I get a lot of fern and grape algea to replace what they have eaten? I want a cheap place to get a ton of it.

No chance of moving your algae into a sump fuge or a confined compartment in your tank? If the fish get a taste of the stuff and they like it I doubt you'll be able to train them not to pick at it.

I don't have lights in my sump, so my macroalgae would probably die in there. As for the type of fish, I have a tang that snacks on it like candy.

Tangs are primarily herbivores. Only choices are remove the macro, remove the fish, or let it continue.

You can usually get freebies in here to.

I'm trying to stay away from it and grow some red gracilaria.

Just get some cheap lights from Home Depot and put the stuff in your sump. They grow really fast
