Underwater World Tanks Vandalized with Bleach!

I was just cruising around over at reefbuilders.com and came across the heartbreaking news that vandals poured bleach into the tanks at Underwater World. What a sh***y thing to do! :bigeyes2:

Underwater World was the original source of the Rainbow Sunburst Monti parent colony I got a frag of a while back. My frag is still really small and growing very slowly so I can't do it yet, but once it's big enough I'm going to give UWW back a frag of this fantastic coral. They had many rare, one of a kind corals. I hope that there are enough colonies of them spread around out there that a frag of each could be given back to UWW.

What jerkoffs! I am glad to see that he decided to stick with it though. I know that most LFS' aren't huge moneymakers and most I know of wouldn't be able to stand a hit like that.

Not exactly new news, but horrible none-the -less. However, I don't think this small shop in Helena Montana is the source of your Monti frag. More than likely it came from the wholesalwr in LA with the same name.

Randy, I hope you are right about this being a different Underwater World. Since we're on the topic, how can you trace back a "named coral" back to the original importer? I've always wondered where they began their lives in captivity.

In most cases you can't which is one of the reasons the whole LE craze is IMO a bit silly.

In fact, I don't think it's Under Water World in LA who imported this first either-they don't usually name anything, unless they recently has changed their style. They may follow someone else naming convention lately but to start their own is a rare.

Then I know eactly which UWW, they gave me a frag in NJ Macna. Theirs are of lighter orange and sharp yellow(in a way more eye catching) than the one I already had.

Who ever was the master mind behind that should of run down his mothers leg instead of growing in to a fish and coral killer and trying to ruin this mans business and lively hood.

That article was posted on May 19th of this year. Did it occur around that time, or earlier? Would it be possible to put together a donation thread/program? I'm sure they're getting help from the rest of the community, but maybe we can help as well.

They are not closed for good, A new person just bought that store last week and from what I heard and have seen they were still in business. Jason just sold it to a guy named Wayne.
