its usually hit or miss at local shops.. you have a better choice when ordering online. but thats down by me in jersey, not sure how it is by you

It's always a miss. Nobody carry live pods

when I replace my filter sock... you are more than welcome to pass by for some free pods. Usually a good amount is in it.

Oh lol. You just need a 5 gallon tank or any kind of container. Add the pods and some rocks and macro algae and your good.

are there special cultures you can get to do it? and who sells the cultures?

Oh just aerate it with air pump. They don't require much to culture.

lol, meadow, dont think you understand what i mean... they dont just grow from nothing.. you nead some sort of eggs, cultures or something like that to get it started..

I was under the impression that in a refugium you can culture them.
Get pods and they multiply?

oh you can get the seeds from anyone who sells pods. Like the ones you link to me. you can buy just 200 pods and then just put them in a refugium and it'll multiply. As long as theres no fish in where you want to culture them, they will multiply like crazy. I got fish in my make shift refugium. So, i can't culture them.

i hear ya, theres a few people that say you can get special kinds, different sizes that you then can raise them so you know what you have..

Correct, there are different ones. Usually you can get these from breeder type vendors.
For example, my ORA Tisbe ReePODS, Tangerine ReefPODS, and Algagen reef pods Tisbe, Tangerine...

What size or type you are aiming for?

i dont know i was thinking i would like to get a good mix of sizes so that it will be as natural as possible within the system.. thinking if i can get my hands of som started cultures and put them into a 10g with some phyto water to see if i can get a thicker population before adding to my system, figure it would be better if i did that than just dump the starter population right into the tank. thinking that the thicker population would have a better chance of susrvival and growth than the smaller one..
