Ok So woke up with a new theory, I have a wash room that is behind my tank, when the washing machine goes on spin cycle it vibrates pretty bad and vibrates the tank, do you think this could be stressing the corals to point of RTN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stopped smoking in my house and the tank seems to be doing much better.
People said I was crazy to think that airborne smoke was damaging tank.
P.S. didnt stop smoking in my house for the tanks sake. Did it to cut down on smoking all together.

one of the supporting evidences that reefing is good for your health.....;)

a seismic resonance produced by harmonic vibrations from home appliance and the correlation with selective sloughing of acropora tissue......

hmmm....title of my next publication.....now i need fundings....lol

I doubt the vibration is bothering the tank that much. Water change and carbon can't be a bad idea. When you get it under control if you need some frags I'll hook you up bro.

On a side not I also agree w/ chem smoking can definitely effect a tank.

but what im getting at is there may be toxins in the tank killing your sps. carbon MAY combat the toxins.youir losing corals now might as well do it and see if it helps. carbon is very simple to use. i see more gain from trying then loss

+++ 1000% carbon is a must in an sps tank. Especially if it's a small system. It will also help right now. Put some in a bag and put it in the sump. Not running carbon is probably why your corals are not doing well. If u where using carbon. The bacteria or toxins would have been taken out by the carbon. Although it could have been many other things. Carbon would always be a good idea in a tank with sps.

carbon would adsorb some toxin but i doubt it would do anything to the bacteria.
in this particular case i agree with putting in poly pad (as suggested in the earlier post) and carbon (in a reactor rather than in a bag and plop it in the sump), i don't quite agree with these statements.... "1000% carbon is a must in sps tank." and "Not running carbon is probably why your corals are not doing well"
not to nit pick but they are not absolutely true.....while at times it's a good idea, running carbon all the time is not an absolute necessity for having a successful sps tank. imho & ime

just looked at your fts in the gallery, i don't know how old the pic is but i saw a toad stool and a leather(nepthia?).....chemical warfare between the softies?
also the carpet nem.....has it moved around stinging the acro?
i've lost frags and colonies to softies chemical warfare and stinging rbta.

Are you using phosban reactor?
Zeovit reactor or bio-pellet reactor?
What's your Pitassium level?
Are you using additives? If so what's that?
I just recovered my tank after exact same situation you have so maybe can help you.
