Hey before you buy one, read as much about them. These fish are super delicate, these are for advance reefers. These are notorious to get ick. If you have other tangs in your tank, most likely they will pick on him. Keep an eye on your new fish! And hope your tank is big! Because they need room. When you?re at the LFS make sure you see them eating. This fish should be quarantine for a few weeks separately before you put him in your DT.

Wow $100 that is a steal...for an Achilles Tang. Goodluck!

They all are coming from quality marine, from what I was told they worked a deal for the anniversary. They are all Juvi Achilles as well. That means little to no orange near the tail.

Picked mine up at aquatic obsessions yesterday, they had 8 Juvi's come in for that sale. Mine is eating nori and mysis so far. Tomorrow I will try some spurlina or so etching of the sort. The Achilles is almost 3"s and is in a 29 gallon qt with a starry Benny. So far so good.

Post a pic! I've seen a few at LFS and purchase maybe 2 with no success, andfor a lot more money. They seem to do okay at the beginning especially whenthey are alone in a tank with a fish less threatening like a blenny. But theproblem begins when he is introduced to a tank populated with fish or othertangs in the system. The eating stops and they get beat up, until they are weakand eventually die.

I hope in your case, he makes it to adult-hood.

Now CEE mention he has a very large tank is a big plus, will give theAchilles enough room to hide if he feels threaten.

I had one for almost 12 years prior to this. That one died over 5a years ago. This is my 2nd one ever. Im not worried about the tank it will go into. The only fish in the dt with any size is a moorish idol(3 years old now) and it is not aggresive at all. I do have a black tang but is in a seperate tank. Im setting up a 120 by the end of november and both tangs will go in there at the same time. Most likely March, then will be moved to a 300 hopefully by the end of next year.

I have always thought the same way, it is all in how you treat the fish once you get it home, first thing first make sure it's eating in the Lfs. I treat all my fish the same qt and treat them even with no symptoms after the time passes fish goes into dt. The Achilles is on the same level as a gold rim/white cheek, Powder brown/lollipop and powder blue tang. Only differences are the prices.
