egg crate

hey, need egg crate to make it easier to hand feed a few corals and organize my fuge.

I am going to try home depot tomorrow but 1) they may not have it 2) i have no idea how much it costs and if i have to buy a certain size. I want a max of a 2'x2' piece

The racks I have seen at vendor locations for sale were always 4'x2' and about $20. Rather not pay for excess.

how much is it at home depot? (in case no one here has any near by)

im in bk area 11238 and may stop into work tomorrow near 11208 during the day

home depot carries it but its not called egg crate. its in the lighting section and its made for drop ceiling lighting. i think for a 4x2 its 20 bucks

It's like 12 or 13 plus tax it comes in a big piece more like 4 or 5 foot by about 3 feet it is referred to as "louvers" they only sell by the big piece.

Trigger... to actually correct you.. They are called light diffusers. You can usually find them in the same section as you would the lighting fixtures.. That's where they are normally kept. If you ask someone there, they may have no idea what you are talking about.. but if you search in the area for florescent lighting ballasts, you will find them.

Trigger, im an electrician they can be called both things. Like skene said they can be called diffusers (which is the common name)but they can also be called fixture louvers. If they still dont understand which most HD employees dont ask them where there lay-in light fixtures are located. If that doesnt work tell them the fixtures that are used on acoustic ceilings (grid style).Just make sure they dont sell you the parabolic covers those are the ones with big openings.

Just go there and ask for egg create if u find someone with a half a brain they will know what ur talking about if not just go in the isle they sell the bulbs and find it ur self

Actually home depot does call it egg crate and light diffuser. That is what it even says on the labels.

If you simply search on HomeDepot.com and use "egg crate" you will get search results.

I'm going to go to HD today since i don the closest reefers with it are a bit far/incur tolls.

I think it is interesting that the fish store I went to charged $20 plus tax for their used egg crate wheras brand new from HD it is under 15.

Yay,

I was able to get the frag rack with some effort.
There was no real section for it...I went to the one in glendale or woodside...somewhere in queens.
There are like 5 lighting aisles and I found these in the aisle with flat panel light fixtures.
Most of the framing there were flat thin sheets that look like ice.
I saw my rack mixed in with those flat thin ice sheets.

Didn't see any other ones.

Cost $13 plus tax.
4'x2'

I'm going to bring some to the SWAP as a donation (or the DBTC) because I think it's really cool that Euroreefer offered a whole sheet for free, and others offered pieces for minor trades f anything at all.

I know it IS a light diffuser but have never seen it listed as that at home depot. I bought some last weekend it said louver on the sticker and on the thing that had the price on it in the store. I'm surprised it said egg crate on thirty5's although I spoke to an electrician last weekend and he didn't know what a louver was but he knew egg crate lol
