Thank you for your input on this matter James!:) I very much appreciate first hand personal experience.;)

Awilda, I have always had copperbands, since the 70s and always had clams, they never bothered them. I know some people report that they do, but I never saw that happen.

Thank you Paul!!
I just may try a CBB as the fifth fish after the Yellow Coris, Possum wrasse, and the two Naked & Nearly Naked clownfish. Making it the first of the "larger" fish in hopes that it will get used to the tank without it being stressed by the other "larger" fish.;)

Dace and BaaMNYC do either of you guys feed live blackworms and clams?
She does eat Mysis but I don't feel that alone is a good enough diet for a copperband.
I just want to make sure she makes it as I have put a lot of time into this fish.
She is recoperating nicely and I have been feeding her 3 or 4 times a day to help with her recovery. Her fins are almost healed and in a few days she should be as good as new. I can't keep her because she is in a small tank on my workbench and I need that area for other things.
If I knew so many people wanted a copperband, I would have gotten a few of them and cured them.

This was her picture all beaten up after my old copperband had an argument with her. Most of those tears are now healed but I want her in perfect condition before I give her away.
These look bad but are all superficial fin tears that heal in a few days.

Well she looks aweful in that picture, but now she is smiling and looking for more worms. In the small, bare tank I change almost all the water every day because there is no filtration at all and it would not go a full day without a change.
I am surprised you don't buy live blackworms at Fish Town which is right near where you live and they give you a large portion.

They do? That's perfect. I'm 5 min away from there. All my fish currently eat flakes, mysis, rods original, and most eat pellets. I alternate between those.

Awesome fish! Hope it gets a good new home, and black worms (not blood worms!) are a must in my opinion also, mine wouldn't eat anything in the beginning other then black worms..

Sent using Razr Maxx, excuse any typo's!

live black worms, how often do you feed these. how do you house these worms and keep them from dying. How long do they still alive. Do you need to cut the worm before you feed. who has these for sale in manhattan.

No flakes, no pellets, and I never used Rods food so I don't know what is in that, but a copperband needs live blackworms and clams.
I keep the worms in a feeder that I built, I posted that many times on here, just look up blackworms. I don't know where to get them in Manhattan as I don't go to pet shops there but I feed all my fish live worms and have been doing so for fifty years. That's why they are almost all spawning and living to 19 years old. I posted a few times my thoughts on this and also feel this is the reason why so many people think that if a fish lives two or three years that is a success. It is not.
Fish Town sells blackworms for $3.00 for a nice size portion and I use a portion in about 2 weeks.

Local around my way that sometimes carrys them are OceanGallery and Shark Aquarium...

If you do not mind the whole shipping process I would order them online, there are 2 sites that I recommend to order from are:

easternaquatics.com

and

aquaticfoods.com

Yes, live blackworms are small and copperbands have no trouble eating them, even clown gobies can eat them and that is what I feed them.

Breakin Newz. Go right ahead. I really don't want to give this fish away to anyone who can't supply the correct food. If it was a clownfish, or gobi, they can eat anything but a copperband can not.

Yup, I totally agree with you! Hopefully someone here can provide the proper food for it... GLWS!

i just bought a copper band yesterday. after reading your thread i went out and got an order of black worms, but the copper is still hiding. i make my own frozen fish mixture that has clam in it, besides shrimp, scollops, mussels, squid, nori and mustard greens.
you put the worms in your brine shrimp trap?

Absolutely Fish in Clifton
Aquarium Paradise in Belleville

I buy them from AP for $5, they give a large portion which for the amount of fish I have, can last me 6 months. AF maybe same price or less but smaller portion.

No matter where you get it from make sure you rinse them well with dechlorinated water before feeding them, most likely when you receive them from either place, the water will be fouled when they bag it.

I keep them in a 5G with 1-2 gallons of water and every few days I rinse them out with dechlorinated water or whenever the water looks cloudy.

I would advise letting them "detox" for a few days before feeding them. After a week of keeping them, they won't foul the water as fast and can last days w/o a changing water or clouding it up. I don't feed them.
