chief that was the first thread and it was supposed to be a pm. Then i talked with some people and i told them maybe delete the first thread and i will re-write it because i thought i was helpful for other reefers.it sounded to harsh and re-did the thread to make it less harsh and more helpful i guess i would say. It was then put in his forum and im guessing the vendor deleted it. And yes fish go through hell getting to our LFS and some do die it is up to the LFS to remove the dead fish BUT if there store is mobbed with customers its hard to run around removing fish. In my case i was the only customer in the store and there were dead fish in many tanks

No, I deleted it. When I opened it up through tapatalk they were both in the same thread. I have since checked and confirmed.

Dude, I leave that to the weathermen.

You say you dont care, yet you passionately defend your opinion. So decide, do you care or not? I love people that get painted into a corner (im not referring to you) and just say 'oh whatever I dont care!' when that's clearly not the case.

Fish die. OK. Sometimes a fish looks almost dead but then they can come back and be fine for sale. OK. I get it. The thread you were referring to was just some troll trying to be a :cat: and say some random statement for attention, TRUST ME I KNOW!

Still, you, being a business owner as you said, know the importance of perception in business. If a customer comes into your restaurant or whatever you own and sees the dishes and forks are a little dirty, its a negative on you and your business. Will they eat there again? Who knows, but they will leave with that thought of the dirty dish and fork.

Same for LFS. That one 95% dead fish will put that idea in their head. That frag with Apt or GBA on it will put that idea in their head. Apt and GBA dont grow to fully visible size over night, so that is NO excuse. But fish, sure they are busy, but im sure as hell sure they walk by that tank atleast 100 times a day.

I agree with 90% of what you said. Who would have ever thought?? Lol
Dirty forks= bad
In a F+B environment anything dirty is bad.
Just check out urban spoon and you can see that.
It seems to me that the lfs business is not too unlike the biz I'm in.
Serve someone a great meal and they may tell 1 or 2 people.
Have an off day or a careless employee and serve a sub par meal and that same person will shout it from the mountain tops.
I'm just not a fan of,, so called,, whistle blowing on a good store for having a bad day.
I think when a well respected store has a few dead fish there is no reason too shout it from the mountain top.
If its your first time in the store. Maybe think of giving another look in a few days to give them a fair shake.
I live in Long Island and go to maybe three out of 20+ stores in the area
Because I do my due diligence to weed out the bad ones.

Dirty forks

Yeah, but you never addressed Apt or GBA. It seems the stores even solid ones have this issue. Is it odd people complain about dead looking fish and not aquatic pests that can ruin your tank and cause the biggest headache?

Also, people are people. They are going to complain no matter if its fair or not - good day or bad day. Just assuming it will happen, plan for it, and move on.

I obviously am not a big fan of bubble algae. Although you might think I am if you saw my tank. Really it's riddled with it.
And :(sorry for starting a sentence with And) aiptasia is the scourge of the captive reef.
Yes I am less forgiving of these thing at a lfs because it doesn't just happen in two minutes, and there are measures to take to eradicate such pests.
Although I rather see the above over flatworms and red bugs.
That's as simple as dipping corals when they arrive.
But BTT. Dead Fish

Fish die. They die in the best shops. A dead fish or 2 is unavoidable. But a well managed LFS should be removing the "stiffs" as soon as they are spotted. After college, I worked in an LFS. First chore every morning was taking out the dead fish. All day, any time we passed a tank with a dead fish, we took it out. We weren't told to do this..we just did. Also, any fish clearly a goner was removed before it died. Should a store be bashed only on the visible dead fish? Probably not if that is their only problem. But lots of dead fish is certainly perceived as being the visible sign of other problems, and I would think that any self respecting store would make every effort to remove them as they occur.

I just think its crazy that these sites are here for us the member, and if a store is slacking we should be able to let other members know!!! it just seems that the mods are always protecting the vendors and just deleting the members post anytime someone post something bad about them.. Its not "Long Island LFS Drama" its just truth!!! The store looks like Garbage and i am sticking to it, Step your game up and you got nothing to worry about, If a store cant handle removing dead fish in a timely fashion then what else are they slacking on, its bad business end of story!!

Actually the site is here for the vendor and the member. I don't think it's as one sided as you would like it to be.
I was not referring to anything you said. Maybe someone else was.
But as I have said,, I think three times already.
There is a distinct difference between a store the looks like dog **** in every way,, and a store with a few dead fish.

Well I do believe that people should be able to post their good and bad experiences with vendors/shops ..but we all know that these types of threads get out of control and if not for the mods keeping things clean it would just cause more problems than good

Yea I am New here!!! Get a clue buddy, it come down to one thing You cant talk bad about a vendor on MR we get the point!! Members are just gonna stop giving Vendors the benefit of the doubt and assuming that because they are a vendor they are a good store.. so the long and short of it is that if your a vendor on MR it means nothing other then that you paid your way!!!

Yea. It's like 400 bucks a year.
No big secret that vendors pay to advertise on the site.
No exactly a giant revelation you had there.
