Was thinking about this today for some reason... I had the idea that if you put a few more fields instead of just location which people just usually put "New York" or "New Jersey", but if there was a drop down for state and a field for county and town/neighborhood, I bet a lot more people would fill them out and we'd end up with a lot less "Generic Locations" overall. Just a thought...

I agree and disagree. It's goes much more smoothly if someone puts in the town or the zip code this way when you are interested in something it's like "sweet, I can do this. This person is not so far at all." it will make sales much smoother and the overall experience better. But, on the other hand, you have people that you have no idea who they are what they look like how old they are etc and you never know who's on the other side of the forum name. So to each his own.

Uhm read the first post of this thread and my last post that bumped it...most people just put NYC or New York or New Jersey...

Just put your zipcode in the title of the forsale post. Pretty simple. If seller chooses not to, so be it.

Cause everyone knows all the zip codes in the tri state...i know the zip for my town and the town next door..

So rather than just put the right info in your profile, i gotta go do a google map search. So simple.

No need to be a wiseass. Googling isn't all that difficult. Use Chrome, just type the zip code in the URL bar and hit enter and bypass Google.com all together. :wow:

Sorry, nit trying to be a wiseass, guess my point is ppl should fill out their profile and if MR changed the profile fields a bit, i bet it would encourage more accurate profiles..anyway the best would be a paypal link which would include RAW geo-tagged pics of the corals for everyones convenience.

I hear ya. At the moment the Locations field is a standard text field where members can enter what they wish. The inconvenience here is that sellers don't feel that including pertinent information, this includes photos, which would greatly increase the potential of them seller their item(s).

My only suggestion with the current system is to include the zip code in brackets in the title of the post. It's not a perfect system by any means, but it beats seeing "Pickup in South Jersey or Queens, NY".
