Hey he are 2 pic of my same house being built a few blocks from me. I wonder when people say my tank is sitting on 2x8 or 2x10 do they mean a solid piece of wood through out the whole 2x10. Because it looks like they used 2x4 to make a structure similar to a 2x10. Is this sturdier? I figure having wood through out would be much stronger than all that air.

Also i see metal is used on the outside of all the wood. Is that good?

The 1st pic shows a truss floor system with joist hangers (what you're referring to as metal on the outside) for the end supports. Not as good as having 2x10's with box beam IMO.

What you're referring to as, "my tank is sitting on 2x8 or 2x10 do they mean a solid piece of wood through out the whole 2x10. Because it looks like they used 2x4 to make a structure similar to a 2x10."
The 'blocked' 2x4's run vertically are standard framing for transferring weight from load bearing walls and floors to the foundation. When those blocked 2x4's are fastened together the way you see them, they are more structurally sound than a 2x10 running vertical. As a matter of fact, a 2x10 running vertical would be against code. It is not how it should be done. The blocked 2x4's are superior and perfect for the application they used them for.

I'd need to see a cutaway picture of the floor system underneath the area you're looking to put the larger tank. I see a couple of framing issues I don't like in the 2nd picture. What I would call short cuts with associated weak or potential fail points.
