Depends on what fish you are feeding.

Predatory fiish such as lions, puffers, triggers, and groupers do better being fed 1x every day or every other day.

What we consider fish for reef tanks such as anthias, wrasses, gobies, blennies and tangs are much better suited to be fed 3-5 times a day. Just feed what they can eat in 10-12 seconds to cut down on water pollution.

here is my fish list

3 blue/green chromes
1 six line wrasse
1 clown tang
2 clown fish
2 bangaii cardinal fish

i feed once a day 3 pinches of flake and one 3" x 4" pc of nori for the tang.

2 X a week i feed mysis. feeds fish and LPS

As already stated it all depends on what your livestock is in your tank. Also to put into consideration your filtration system and water change schedule... You do not want to pollute your tank.

everyday I make a chum of all different types of foods and pour alittle in at a time during a 5-6 hour time period in my reef with lots of anthias and wrasses...so 5+..as mentioned it depends on the types of fish you have....
Arnalolex...your Queen Anthias will need to be fed more than once a day for long term success..they don't stuff themselves like other fish during feedings and take mostly smaller food items....my large male now takes full size PE mysis, but only can consume one while other simular size fish are taking 3-4 in the same time period ...good luck with yours.

I try to feed twice a day at a minimum, I do have runs where I won't feed for 4 days straight if I'm away. I'd rather not feed them then have someone screw screwup while feeding, so I feed more before leaving. With the tangs specifically I can see them bulk up if I feed allot of nori in a 2 week span. Most nice reef tanks that I have seen fed the fish heavily and had a waste removal rememedy with a very good skimmer and aggressive water changes. It makes sense because in the wild food is always available in the water column and water chemistry is pristine.

A feeder is a great investment especially if you have fish that needs to be feed several times a day. And worry free during vacation, don't need someone to overfeed your fish. I normally feed my fishes 2-3 times a day as i have some anthias that needs more feeding. Fishe 2 feeding is from the fish feeder, and i usually feed them the 3 time when i get home or later in the day. I had 35-40 fishes in my old 150g. They don't come and go, they are permenant resident, and skim like crazy. Coral color are awasome so......
