I recently noticed bubble algae starting to pop up in various parts of my mixed reef tank. I have a 120 with a 35 gallon sump. My tank is 2.5 years old. Nothing has changed in my tank at all lately. I run Eco-Tech Radions. I changed my carbon and phosban two weeks ago. I do a 25 gallon water change weekly. I have a great skimmer. I have lots of snails and crabs providing clean up. I tested my water. Everything checked out fine, except for a 5 reading on nitrates with my Salifert kit. I also tested for Phosphates twice, but couldn't find any detectable levels. My R/O water is perfect. I'm stumped. I'm dong another water change tomorrow. Any ideas on how to get rid of bubble algae?

Thank you.

Emeralds are practically guaranteed to eat it up. Siphon off the larger ones. You can sometimes CAREFULLY peel them off the rock. Packed-in small ones can be removed that way too, but it's always a risk that they'll pop. I don't know if it's scientific that popping them will make it worse, but it seems pretty consistent that's the case.
