I couldn't disagree more with him..

SMH...
You DISAGREE? I guess we took completely different conclusions to the article.
This hobby, and the people in it have changed , even in the short time I've been in it. I understand technology comes at a price but, we're not talking about companies or businesses here. It's the mentality of the hobbyist. Too many people in the hobby want to buy something for a nickel, and sell it for a dollar.

I was around during the trading days, and I miss them. No one sold coral, every brown piece of acro was an adventure. We were happy if the damn thing didn't die. I am not a kid anymore and find myself wishing it was like the old days more and more. Thanks for posting Pete

Ah the good old days. Much good has come in the intervening years, but much has been lost as well.

I wasn't around but, it sounds like it was definitely a more communal hobby than it is now. I've seen it change in the measly 3yrs I've been in the hobby.

Anyone with moderate success keeping the flavor of the week ( Always Acro's, was zoas, now chalices) with months or years in the game becomes a frag farmer looking to sell their cash crop ...

nothing like the old barter system, for all faises of life.
today people want things free or cheap but want to sell for top $
we should be trading among hobbyists regardless of value.

"He" is the author.

Thanks. I wasn't sure who he was talking about.
I know, the irony of the article. But that's exactly what's happening to the hobby. Someone's coral grows a different morph, and all of a sudden it's worth a small fortune. Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It's the hobbyist that perpetuates the problem, especially when they turn entrepreneur.
By the way, I didn't think JF prices were too bad @ the fall swap 2yrs ago. Picked up 4p frag of Red Hornets for $40. I've seen people on here trying to sell them for much more, and they didn't have the JF name.
