Good question. I should have addressed that. That is just a second Check valve that I acquired from CoralVue to replace the original if I ever needed to. Its just sitting on the lid.

It is a replacement for the check valve inside the reactor. If you look at the down tube you will see the union about 1/3 of the way down the tube. That's it.


It is also in the manual but it is not listed as a check valve, but it clearly visible.
