But telling people that buying books is a jackass move i don't think is warranted.

I have a shelf in my basement full of aquarium books. No where did I call someone a jackass for buying books. I called him a jackass for the authors he selected, which was poking fun of myself as well since I probably have the same ones. You have no problem with someone saying all they need is RC or someone calling selected books useless, but I throw a joke and its bad behavior. I don't think you being so up-tight is warranted.

but FWIW Anthony Calfo's Book of Coral Propagation is being redone fully illustrated with photos, and it has chapters on SPS, LPS, softies, mushrooms/corallimorphs and clams.

I like these books. I don't have the updated versions, but the Calfo books are pretty good reads.

I've wanted to get the "corals of the world" series, but the price has held me back. I had a chance to look at them at kedd's house. I think for ID'ing s.p.s
they are the best books I've seen so far.

They have been reccomended a couple of times.

If you look at a lot of the coral serach at AIMS they referece Vernon as their source quite often.

Anyways, it's not a matter of being uptight, in the post it seems you called people who own books by that name. At no point did you say it was a joke, nor do we know from the internet that it was a joke. I was merely looking at it from the newcomers point of view. They come here to read and they see that they are frowned upon for owning these books, no matter from what author!

If i misunderstood, my apologies, but i called it as i saw it!

I ONLY wish that beginners go and pick up some books rather than ask the LFS about advice. My 2 cents again.

yeah corals of the world is nice, i got a chance to glance tony acro's copy. I think it's probably one of the best, but i can do it online like rich. Saves my butt some dollars.
