I would recomend that if you are going to buy a sump/refugium you with an ADHI. Check them out Aquacave.com.

I would drill the tank and buy an aga tank at petland and make it into a fuge/sump. It would be much cheaper.

Yep. Drill the tank. You will thank us for it later. if you don't feel comfortable drilling, there's lots of people here who can do it for a bit o cash. Some even work for beer.

Get the biggest tank you can fit in the area you want underneath your tank. Then get a couple of acrylic baffles from a plastic store. t&t plastic land on church st is one of my favorite places to go. Get a tube of silicone from the pet store, and put your baffles in place.

This way you can design a sump around your needs, rather than having to 'make due'

also, there's guys around here that do great acrylic work. Check the vendor list.

I bought the 10 gal diy kit from this guy and will probably never use it. All it consists of is a few pieces of acrylic, 2 bulkheads, and a tiny vial of glue. Trust me they look so much nicer in his pictures.

i wanted an opinion on this item.

i guess the biggest one possible would have a better effect on my tank

i was thinking of the model 100 with overflow 24x10x16 $228.90
or the model 200 with over flow32x 12x 16 $167.90

if not those 2 i was looking on ebay at diy kits

a little work on the diy is it worth it?

thanks

guess imma have to find some where in brooklyn that will do it for me or something

i decided to build a sump, and drill my tank. I am using 20 long tank the height is 12 inches. someone gave me 6 pieces glass that will fit . just wondering is 9 inches too tall to have the baffles? it would leave 3 inches from the top of the tank.. i was going to follow a the diagram for a sump/refugium from this thread http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/general-discussion/3883-baffle-placement.html
