Whats the word on these things.
Can the price be justified. I know that money has a different value to everyone, which is why im asking if the price can be justified.

and, what is the minimum GPH rating for these, ive seen 100 and 500.

My tank is a 34 GL.
I will eventually be upgrading to over 100 gallons, so this is an early buy, b/c I want it now, and dang if it dont look cool.

Deanos.
Ever take any econ classes?
Im not trying to insult you, but that is something they cover in basic econ classes and it is very interesting.
Since you took economics, heres a pic drawn out for you.
The retail price is $420, hence the pic below, but you can adjust that for any price you can find it for.
At bare minimum, you would need to fall where the 2 lines intersect. If you can find it cheaper, then you would fall into the pink which is a definite buy. If your satisfaction with the vortech is larger then expected, then you can also shift the red line up which would increase the pink coverage.

The vortech is not designed to be in a frag tank to be a money maker, but instead to be appealing to the eyes. Just use a MJ Mod in a frag tank. So therefore, this is a pure opinion question so you have to figure out if its can be 'justified' for you. I own 2 of them myself and I'm happy with my purchase, although it depends on how much dispensable income you have.

Expensive, noisy and not worth it for a 32g tank. Maintanance is minimal if you get a good set of wet ends. Troublesome if you don't. Water movement is good with them. The wave modules work good (so I hear, I have yet to use any of mine.) Cool factor is up there...Money is a relative thing. Either you got it or you don't. If don't have any.. then it's relative :)

Adjustable flow, non-intrusive design, awesome battery backup, wireless controller has wave modes and can sync with another vortek. Its expensive but worth it. It all depends what your willing to spend. There are other PH's out there but this one has all the features in one without buying separate components. And yes you can set the flow low enough for a small tank if you want to buy one and plan on upgrading. But if your not going to upgrade i would wait for the nano versions i seen to go on the market (forgot what company). Little expensive to put on a 30g tank.

No offense taken. But if you know everyone values a product differently, how can you ask for justification? That was my confusion.

For example, I can afford a Vortech and it would do great things in my 120g. However, I find there are much better ways to spend over $300 for water flow.

I was going to replace my Nano Streams with Vortechs, but then I belive "If it aren't broke, don't fix it". What you using now? If what you have now works fine then may be you should just wait until you get the 100gal before upgrading the pumps? Theres always something better in the future. That way you can relocate the money for something else you want? :) For me, I am going to use that money for my trip to Hong Kong next week :)

noise is an issue, as my tank is next to my couch. heck the tank is next to everything in my small nyc apt(except my bed, have a 1 bedroom)
ming, you are a very funny guy(i almost majored, well...almost dbl major in econ, cause that stuff made sense to me).
I have a koralia 2 in there now and it seems big. not a frag tank, my only tank is this 34.
These reviews seem fairly one sided, but I think im going to wait till I see one in person.
Deanos, glad your not mad at me, I may have taken my comment the wrong way and grab my bat and found the little weasle who was talkin s***, thanks for understanding, you are a great help to me always and I would hate to piss you off.
