I got a few emails from Jessica at the Staten Island Animal Care Center asking to post more Pit Bulls that need homes.
I'll keep updating this thread as she send them to me. I know there are only so many people that can take in new dogs
but please spread the word, thanks :dog:

This is a copy of an email LeslieS forwarded to me.

I was hoping someone on MR could help out.

Hello

My name is Jessica Ryan. I work @ the Animal Care &
Control in Staten Island NY I was wondering if you can please help us... we seem to have all pit bulls @ the shelter & they are very hard to place.
But I am writing you because of one that has stole our
hearts, Her name is CeeCee she is about 2 years old white with brown brindle, she is good with people, great in her cage but seems to be a bit
dog aggressive. But the thing is that we can't really temperment test them
in the right setting there are to many dogs vs. people.
CeeCee also came to us after be shot with 3 a trancs (ketamine) in one leg
while @ close distance, her leg was so bad she couldn't even walk,
her skin is just burned and peeling off. I am on the medical staff @ the
shelter so we cleaned up her wound & it seems to be getting a little
better, she is now walking on the leg (I have to take pics tomorrow)
But sadly her time is pretty much up there. I just wanted
to reach out & see if maybe you can help her she is beautiful &
it's not fair that just because she is a Pit she has to be put down. She is on
borrowed time now. Please get back to me ASAP!
My phone number is (718) 979.0257

thanks George,

these are the photos Jessica sent, she said the wound is healing well and cee cee is taking meds in her food with no problem, the shelter would provide the meds as well.

along with cee cee's pics Jessica also sent the bio of one other dog they are trying to place that she loves, I could not say no to posting it...

Here is Daisy's Bio

Daisy is a 10 year old, 55 lb, spayed, brown and white pit bull. She came to us on 8/26/08 as a stray. They don't come much sweeter than this old gal. She is very mellow and loves to have her head patted. Daisy loves to be taken out of her kennel and go on long walks. She walks politely on her leash and doesn't pay any attention to the other dogs.
Daisy has a growth on her belly and the shelter's medical staff believes that she is deaf. Daisy is the nicest pooch we have and would make a great pet to anyone seeking a docile and well trained dog.
Please give this girl a new home to live out her golden years

Picture attached!

Thank You!

Yeah, I am glad Vick got busted because it opened Americas eyes to the fact that its not the genetics that make a viscious dog but the owner. Who ever picks him up when he is out of jail is forever banished from my eyes. Did any one see the Dogtown episode with the Vick dogs.

I watched it, good stuff from the dogs point of view. Vick and others who fight the dogs are scumbags.

Hello this is Jessica, Thank you so much everyone that tried to help CeeCee & Daisy. I am very happy:splitspin to report that they are both in foster homes as of last night.
Thank you all again for all your support!
I have some others @ the shelter that need homes/fosters.
I will send them your way if that is OK?

Above is the shelters website! You can go on & see the dogs/cats for adoption/foster
We have a lot of Pit Bull but also get many other breeds, we even had (she is adopted already) a 2 Month old Shih Tzu Puppy, crazy I know but people need to know they can get any breed, any dog, size, color etc. @ a shelter or rescue.
Also another good website is http://www.petfinder.com where you can search by breed.

Thanks again:
Jessica Ryan
