I went to high school no college. (I am actually proud of that)There wasen't a lot of higher education going on in the sixtees, we also had that draft thing.
Some things seem to be better new and some old.
My tank is very old technology, I would light it with candles if I could do it without burning the house down but my house is new school.
I even installed Solar Electricity.
My tank is also new school, everything is automatic from feeding, lighting, topping off and leak detection. Then there is that UG filter which is old but running it in reverse is new.
As soon as I could get my hands on a fully electric car I will have one. If I charge the thing in the day time, it will be free due to the solar panels.
I cure fish with old methods that most people never heard of and treat NSW with Clorox which is even older.
I make my own calcium (i don't know if that is old or new)
My gravel is old, over 40 years as are most of my rock, but most of my new rocks are home made which I like much better.
I have some aquarium magazines from the sixtees, they all talk about blue devils and dominoes. They are printed in black and white.
Of course, I am old which allows me to ramble.
