Yes that is ridiculous but like I posted before, some members like to take advantage of the seller. Which is the reason that some people don't like to sell things, as they don;t need the headaches.
last week I bought a beautiful orange cap from midol, I picked it up had the pleasure of meeting him and seeing his tank it was awesome!
isnt this what MR is supposed to be about?

So does this mean you wont deliver?

just messing around
:funnypost
Doc for you I'll deliver it, it's free and I'll give an xtra 20.00 for letting me have the honor of delivering it
and did I mention it's free???:splitspin:thrash:

Hey

Me personally when I buy something I pick it up, Just to make sure I see the condition of the coral, fish or equipment. The only bad xperince I've had is when the seller delivers, I dont get to see the coral fully open until the seller is gone.

You're not wrong for asking, but they're not wrong for ASKING if you deliver. Some people do deliver, some people do ship, so its a reasonable question. Demanding you deliver or reneging on a deal for most reasons ( I can think of some legitamate reasons ) is rude. asking you to lower an agreed price ( unless something else changed, like they say the livestock and it was not as advertised, etc . ) is crass.

them asking isn't the issue....
this is why I started this thread
I got the impression that it's implied that delivery is expected.
I got many replies asking if "when do you come to the city"
"do u get to the island"

once I reply that I'm not going to be in the city I never get an answer after that.
That gives me the impression that the sale is solely based on me delivering.

maybe if I got a response similar to this this thread wouldnt be active?

"hello interested, I don't have a car and I see you live way outside the city,
so public transportation isn't feasible do u work or come to the city?
I can compensate you for gas if needed?"

maybe it's me
in the future I will specify pick up or delivery options

I get questions if I can deliver all the time, along with low balls. I never got a request that assumed I deliver though. I almost never deliver, but if I happen to be hear them, I'll let them pick it up from where I am going. For pickups, I always ask to be paid in advance because it wouldn't be the first time someone flaked out. But nobody flakes once they paid up. The only time I don't request they pay in advance is the swaps because If they paid for admission, I assume they'll show up.

I think in this situation you should just leave negative feedback stating the potential seller low balled you and expected you to deliver said item.

truthfully the reason I started this thread I really though I was missing something!
leaving neg feedback doesnt solve anything it's a matter of respect and we as a community shouldnt have to do that

I've seen things sell for pennies on dollar and I kind of hope that it's a by product of the community attitude of helping out.

Killer I don't think it warrant a negative feedback. No transaction was made and there's no need to take it any further than refusing to go forward with that person. If the transaction was going through and on the day the person said they would pick up, they ask me to deliver and drop the price, then they're definitely getting a neg.

I get low balled all the time, after that I just make up my mind to not deal with the person in the future.

Flaking on the other hand...that's a whole new thread :lol2:

leaving neg feedback doesnt solve anything:scratch:

Actually I think it would. Since attempting such actions would lead to negative feedback, becoming a nice disincentive to trying. As it is now, they have no real harm in trying. Low ball someone and then trying to get them to deliver, and then reneging on the potential deal when you object, oh well no skin off their back. But if you start giving out negative ratings, it leaves a black mark for the entire community to see that this person would do something like that, and makes it more difficult for them in getting the things that they actually do want. Really it just keeps people honest. (Of course if it's an honest question, like in some of the above examples, there would be no need for negative feedback, but just saying in the most egrarious of cases.)

It is unfortunate that there is even a need to discuss something like this, as a community we should look out for one another, but society has laws and punishments because people are stupid and don't look out for one another.

Usually when people are out of the city, I don't have a car, I ask if they can ship. If I'm going to buy an item I wouldn't expect someone to deliver it to me. But if they are in the city and they are like hey I can bring it in meet me up at work or something, I'm more than willing to go the extra mile. But if I'm going to buy an item outside the city I would hope they would be willing to give shipping a try, especially for dry goods. As for livestock I can understand people's unwillingness to ship sometimes.

It payed to come to my house and pick stuff up, you would leave with more than you paid for. I had this happen to me many times when I first went to buy frags and felt it was the MR thing to do, pay it forward.

As for people wanting delivery, just say no! people are lazy what can you say.
