+1 i want to reserve a pair of female also. don't want them to breed.

my kids still miss our last yellow kelloggii pair. we got them as adults so no one really know their ages. we kept them almost 3 years before they die of old age?(at least we like to think so). after the female died, the male became more reclusive and died about a month later.

The fry were not looking so good this morning. Something is wrong. I haven't had a lot of time to tend to them lately. Tonight I'll test water params but I am wondering if the enriched BBS is no longer good enough. I offered cyclopeeze on Monday but there was no interest. Keep those fingers crossed!

Great job on them so far Dum, the cirri on them is amazing! It is probably time to start introducing cyclops and Selcon enriched shredded frozen mysis!!

I figured out why the fry were not looking good or even disappearing. For some reason at night some of the fry just float at the top versus hitching on algae or the posts I added to the tank. The water current naturally pushes them against the glass where they spend the night. Well, the mud snails I put in the tank to keep the system tidy were actually trying to eat the fry. This is why the fry looked "bad" to me as the snails were grabbing them by their tail  Lesson learned the hard way as usual :irked:

I still have about 10-15 left which is good but I am still experiencing problems. I have an outbreak of red hydroids which is causing issues. I have to remove it all tonight when I get home. Keep those fingers crossed!

I only have 3 left :( It was getting difficult keeping up on the food and something came up that took up my time for two days. The three I have left do not look so hot either. I'm confident I have set up a great system for raising them so the next batch will be much better :)

Well I'm still getting settled in the new home with lots left to do but one of my male seahorses was going to burst to I spent all day yesterday setting up a system for raising the fry. I finished it last night moved the male to the holding tank and this morning there were babies everywhere. I'm not going to post pics yet since the next issue of RM will have Part II of my article. Sorry :(

This time I kept the lights to leds only and at low levels hoping to prevent any algae growth.

Wish me luck!

WTW, here is Part I of the two part series: http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum...ahorses-part-i-adult-system-conditioning.html
