Derek Jeter has successfully tied the all time great Lou Gehrig for the most base hits by a NY Yankee.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy............

i wouldnt say SOOOO many years..he should have 5 good years at the plate if that..he is 35 now..40 to 42 is a career for majority of baseball players..next year should be his last as SS

If he plays long enough, he could pass Rose. But I don't think he'll play that long. I would say 7 or 8 more years for him and roughly 4,000 hits

Great job Jeter, congratulations!! As Yankee fans we have to remember how GOOD we have it. Guys Like Moe and Jeter come around very seldom and we get to see them all the time.

My sons GF got him tickets to tonights game as a BD present back in July...(specifically in the Mohegan Sun Sports Bar for dinner as well )

He showed me the videos he recorded of the hit and then the walk (aw, come on...) in the 8th. I'll see if I can get him to send them to me and I'll post them here.

Jeters is The Best

Jeter is the best all around player that the Yankees have had since I've been a fan (50+) years. He's been a team leader, great role model and a gentleman through out his career. No scandals, no crime and he seems like the type of person we would all want our children to emulate.

It is difficult to compare him to the old time players as the game has changed and you can't compare apples to apples any more. Today the ball is different, the mound is lower, you have DH, rules have changed and expansion has diluted the talent; It's a different game.

My father always would tell me the great stories about players that I never saw like Gehrig and I will always remember and tell my son and grandsons about Jeter

I will be at the game tomorrow night and cheer when Jeter get's that hit. I will always remember the other great players in Monument Park and hope to be there when Jeter's plaque is dedicated.

Jeter a MVP always!!!!

I will be there tomorrow as well. Can't wait to see his historic hit. He is truly a class act. The Yankees I will be telling my grandchildren about are Don Mattingly, Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera.

I've been lucky enough to meet all three of them, and not only are they great baseball players, but they are great people too.
