Hey Solana Owners.
What measures have you taken to Quiet the overflow of your tank?
For me the sponge idea is all I have tried. But it seem like the sponge needs to be deep in the overflow to work.
The water in the overflow seems to have a long way to drop.
Also if the sponge gets clogged, the tank can overflow. I am on the second floor so this is not an option.LOL
Also I am the second or third owner of the tank. (funny story) So the other day my wife calls and says. The water level in the tank seems pretty high. LSS. I asked her to unplug the pump and leave the vortech on. When I got home, i fished around with a coat hanger in the overflow and pulled out an old sponge. Then Again, And Again, and better still again. YES 4 old sponges in the overflow Clogged with MUD. The most digusting Mud filled filter pads I have ever seen. And I own Turtles!!!
This must be why my nitrates have been 50ppm even doing 7,,,,Yes,,,7 gallon water changes each week.
So beware your filter pad falling into the overflow.
My SPS came back in 2 days (Flesh) Now I just have to see if it will color up.
My nitrates 2 weeks later are 0. (with 14 gallon water change)
