Banking Soda to raise alk

I used washing soda instead of baking soda, it's still made by arm and hammer and you find it in the clothes detergent section. Worked really well for me.

I believe you are suppose to bake the baking soda on a cookie sheet in the oven for about an hour which will turn it into soda ash.

Yes you are right baking it removes all co2 and water that's in the baking soda turning it into soda ash

When you bake it, it tends to raise your ph. If your ph is high already ( 8.4 or higher) you shouldnt bake it

I use sodium bicarbonate a couple times a week as my ALK supplement. It doesn't take much, and you need to add it slowly. It's what BRS uses in their Recipe 2 for their bulk 2-part, pretty common really.

As mentioned, just make sure that the ingredients on the box only says Sodium Bicarbonate. If there's anything else listed, move on to another brand.

Thank guy for all your help . yes the bag say Ingredients Sodium Bicarbonate and thats it . I bake it for 2h and added 2cup to 1 gallon of water and did a test and it work great . This is a cheap and easy way to dose alk.
