SUGGESTION: Marketplace change

I think the marketplace would be much easier to find things in if we had a separate marketplace title for equipment and livestock. So instead of just saying "Selling/trading" it would say "Selling/trading livestock" and "Selling/trading equipment"
I feel like when i'm looking for corals, fish, or live rock it would be much easier if everyones pumps, tanks, skimmers, and other equipment wasn't mixed in with all of the livestock listings.

The issue with doing that is that we only have available 16 'slots' that appear on the first -always visual- page of the Marketplace and sooo many members who sell items there.

We request (it would be nice if people paid attention to this part...) that folks list ALL of their For Sale/For Trade items on a SINGLE thread, so yes, many threads are for mixed items or assorted types of corals, but this method allows for a larger variety of ads by different members to be seen at a glance.

I would suggest that if there is a particular item that you are looking to purchase that you place a Want To Buy thread up in that forum

Perhaps some members might take your suggestion and word the title of their threads more carefully to reflect what they are selling. :starfish:

Why only 16 slots??? Why can't the page just be extended downwards? I know that some things are about to change on the site in terms of reefberry and stuff like that. But when is the whole site going to be updated. After extensive use over the past few months there are definitely some things I would like to see changed... such as: uploading and importing photos should be made easier, mobile app needs to function better, more items could be available per page. I feel like more items per page could eliminate the need for so many bumps in all the posts. I could go on for a while. Am I being too vague?

Hm... I don't see why people make a big deal with the photo uploading. I upload all of my pictures to photobucket and then post them to here. It's very easy.
Having more listings on the page would take longer to load.

When looking at the page you can only immediately see 16 different ForSale/For Trade Threads. Of course you can look at all of the earlier threads (and many people do).

Making the pages longer? That's been done here in the past. They can only get so long before it becomes a big chore to constantly have to scroll down a page to read it. It wasn't all that long ago that the 2nd page (the Marketplace page) was added to MR
We do listen and upgrade the site in the best ways as soon as is possible!

Wait I misunderstood. Why would it be a change for the worse if we added a separate equipment and livestock forum? You would still see the same stuff on the immediate marketplace forum, except if you are specifically looking for livestock or equipment, you can just go to the sub-forum for either equipment or livestock. I don't see how this would change the immediate 16 visual threads? Are you worried because people will post 2 threads due to having equipment and livestock to sell? I just don't see why it would cause such a bad reaction.
