Im thinking about going back to T5's. Right now im using 300w LED's. i have a 90 gallon sps dominated tank and i keep sps at 24'' deep. Will a 6x48w ATI Powermodule be enough light to grow my sps at a fast rate? i run two fixtures on my 48'' tank.

You will be fine with t5s just get the right bulb combo

You will need more light(plus more flow) than that if you want fast growth rate.

A member just told me that his 4 x 54W Tek(216W) is not able to keep his SPS further than 7" from the surface.

So I would say if you want T5, consider 6x54W instead of 6x39W.

What fixture is your 300W? Did you check the PAR? Are they too high or too low or just wrong spectrum?


If your current PAR value is high, you need high flow to balance it.

I know someone who runs a 6 x 48 Sunpower on a 90 gallon with SPS. Plus your planning on the Powermodule so you should get better performance with that fixture.

I have sps and clams on the bottom doing fine under t5 go with the ati u be fine buddy

I'd say yes. Why would u go powermodule? Will u see the fixture or do u have a canopy?

i have 2xmp40's. i just miss the blue+ color. my led's dont get that blue. they are the ones from reeffiltration.

So I assume you are running 2 x150W Reeffiltration LED and thus total of 300W over a 48" 90G. I would further assume you currently have 220-250 par value at the bottom of the tank. Ask Ati what PAR value they achieve with 4x39W to see if that's what you want/need.

Im using 6x54w not 4x39w

If it's just the color that's the issue you could always go with an LED strip to supplement the blue. Probably end up saving a few bucks over getting another light and selling the old ones. You also need to consider that light is only part of the equation and when it comes to growth, your water chemistry is going to be a bigger factor.
