Mislabeled Zoa...possibly gold mine! LMK

So most vendors/retailers don't keep up with exactly what they have and some even worse don't have a clue what they are worth.

I think this vendor that I got these zoas from were just mislabeled or were too small to know exactly what they were.

It was originally thought as orange bam bams but looking at the coloring and watching them grow, I believe they are not what they were labeled. I might have gotten BETTER! JF atomic sunrises?

usctom - I wouldn't be surprised. JF is just a big name and he probably named them off a small morph change but demands a big price because of JF label. lol at fads!

If it is just bam bams then that's cool.

I am really bad with names. Also its hard to tell because the stock images you posted are with white balance correction or possible photoshop adjustment.

Whatever they're named, did you like them when you bought them? Not sure why anything referencing a name would change your opinion of them.

Russ, I definitely liked them before and after. It's a matter of trading/selling. I like knowing what I have so when it's time to frag or trade I give and get what was stated. I would hate to be an asshat and say I gave you JF atomic sunrises and they were no-name ones you can buy for 5 bucks a polyp.

I obviously won't sell for 100a pop cause i'm not an asshat and I'm here as a hobbyist and not a vendor. So I want to be as trustworthy and honest as possible. Unfortunately, integrity was instilled when I was in the Navy.

if you didnt buy them from jason fox how would you list or label them as jason fox ? this is the problem i have always stated that people buy wild pieces or get it from another member then find some signature name and try to sell them off as that persons, which would be fraud

They are bam bam I do own a large colony of them just cause the morph a little don't mean they change name ...This zoas name thing is always been a little out of hand at one point not long ago I was on a mission to collect a 100 I was well over 50 and after trading for the same zoas 3or 4 times with a ddifferent names I kinda lost interest in zoas and move on to chalice and sps

I don't get the difference as I am trying to identify the zoa. I found the pic that most resembles the zoa. If I were to trade or sell, I would label them as Atomic Sunrises not JF Atomic Sunrises.

JF has nice morphs but I think people are making most corals out to be Apple vs Samsung etc. I just care the name it is or if it is an unknown so again I don't screw people over for saying it is THE DEEP SUNSHINE BEFORE YOU'VE GONE TOO DEEP ZOA!

I am sure any other coral buyer can say they don't want to pay for a "higher" priced coral (like it or not) and be something wrong because it wasn't identified properly.

when you searched for bam bam his wouldnt have even came up. not trying to bust your balls. but the statements you made were in that direction. and a 5 minute search brought this up. this is to a degree why i have been against the naming and passed on naming a couple of zoa's and palies on zoaid.com between people playing with led and light combo to give something a slightly different look or photoshopping it and a macro shot of a coral that you will never visually see it like that

Too much Drama with everyone...

Great zoa and its very pretty have them myself. There a pretty good grower have a few ployps right now. If the preice tag is 5$ or 1000$ if you like it and its of market value in the USA then find a reasonable offer to buy it at and what you buy it at and what its going for thats what the price would be for selling it.

so if i buy a zoanthid for 450$ and the price in a few months goes for 100$ and thats what everyone is selling them at and buying them at Thats what im going to be selling mine at aswell. you follow the market and its not being cheap or being stingy. its just like a stock market with these zoas one day there 100-1000$ over a period of a year there down to 20-60$ a polyp.

it doesnt matter if he used that name with it as long as he doesnt use it when he is selling it or trying to market it that he got it from there. There will be no price value of jason foxes sunrise zoa that he "has" they will be at market price for what bam bams are going for.

Now if he got them from jason fox it would be a different story or if he had gotten them as j-fox atomic sunrise and bought tehm at 70-100$pp then he can say as he were to please.

but enough said bam bam it is with out the lineige.

I got the zoas as a package from a vendor.

I should not have said that then NYreefNoob. Wrong intentions. The only results I found while looking up atomic sunrises were of JF. Probably because his has the most hits so I mentioned it based off the price tags that were associated to that coral.

You normally base your price tags off market value not what you think you should have someone pay because they are "pretty".

Please show me a few threads that have atomic sunrise not associated to JF while performing a search. You will find that in a quick search especially when there are photos associated to what you were looking for that's why it was said as such.

BTW, I wasn't even going to sell these zoas but it came up in a conversation with another user looking to trade. I didn't know exactly what they were and I always like to be fair when trading. Most times I even take the down side because I'm not in this for money.

I know there are a lot of bad apples but please check my reefer rating or my POSTS/threads started and you'll see I'm nowhere near the type to turn a coral around for $1000. I'd trade them for fair amount than needing to sell.

Yeah, the pics on zoaid.com don't show the morph so I thought it was something else and found atomic sunrises. As others have mentioned, they are a nicer morph of orange bam bams. Orange bam bam none-the-less!

what about if you got them from dr. mac way before jf puts his name to it? supposedly it's the same lineage...(jf got it from dr. mac?)...i could be wrong, that's the story i've heard.

mike, swing by to see for yourself, i got both mr. mac's atomic sunrise and educator's (james) orange bam bam....they look a little different to me. the bam bams from james is much brighter imo.
