Mike,
I to am bored with bad fish, ammonia burn, high frieght rates, coral feeders sent but not ordered, tight packing on large clownfish and heavy packing on bulletproof snowflake eel...and the equation that 2 plus 2 equals 4... but I still have to deal with it every single day.
When its your livlihood and family provider, one does not enjoy the luxury of a sporadic attention span. This stuff is real, it counts and its way out of the way of shallower interests. In fact, its even labeled...Industry behind the hobby... to warn off the kids who want a new story every day... for entertainment purposes.

.

ps. However, for entertainment sake may I suggest the new Laura Croft movie or the NANO posts? There are certainly a million things to do that are more fun then this, I agree..

Steve,

No, not that...

I was referring to the petty bickering.

It just gets really, really old after you see the same freakin' argument again and again and again...

Jaime, FWIW, when in Zambales in January (Palauig) there was a community holding pen. Handling was not so much the issue. Shipping, OTOH, still is, but there is very little that can be done about that. Jeepneys don't have air conditioners, nor are the roads smooth. (My wife's uncle jokes about the 'corrugated highways'...) (Picture Dory and Nemo singing "I'm all shook up")
There is not a single thing an NGO can do about this short of buying them an air-conditioned, temperature-controlled delivery truck and paying a lot of money to have the roads covered in asphalt...

So things have improved in at least one area in Zambales since you were last there.

Regards.

Mike,
Shop talk is especially boring if you don't keep shop. Ever hang out with a group of sheet rock hangers?
I said earlier I didn't think anyone cared that much...and thats why I didn't answer specifically as you just did.
Then again having visited Zambales made it more relevant didn't it? If Jaime disagrees with you and you respond with a contrary opinion, be careful. If the disagreement is not resolved...It could become 'bickering'. If he reconciles himself to the infallibility and truth of your post...no problem.
Prolonged disagreement without giving up or giving in is bickering...so I suggest you win the point...or give in for the sake of peace.

Floating cages and sunken plastic jars systems in huge handmade 8 foot goodie bags with a rope drawstring have always been the way to go. I started the sunken jar system myself with reference to what we have always done in Mexico. [ no electricity ].

I saw some villages that stored the fish in plastic bags as a security measure against fellow thieving collectors...even with a calm bay available to hold the live wells in....whoops...too much shop talk ...sorry.
