Brooklyn, NY - Guests will learn the secrets of maintaining a beautiful aquarium that is friendly to both fish and the environment during the Marine Aquarium Hobbyist Day at the New York Aquarium. The event will feature a variety of guest lectures in the Aquarium's Education Hall and Explore the Shore Classroom. Lectures will focus on a myriad of marine aquarium topics, such as aquarium planning, making wise decisions on animal and supplies selection, set-up and aquarium maintenance. The Aquarium's Seaside Pavilion will also be teeming with exhibits and booths featuring local marine aquarium suppliers and other related organizations.
The Marine Aquarium Hobbyist Day is a joint project of the New York Aquarium and the Marine Aquarium Council (MAC), an international non-profit association based in Honolulu, Hawaii. MAC's mission is to conserve reefs and other marine ecosystems through their unique MAC Certification standards for those engaged in the collection and care of marine animals, including saltwater fish, corals and invertebrates. The Marine Aquarium Hobbyist Day is designed to provide education on MAC Certified marine aquarium animals and promote maintaining a responsible marine aquarium.
