We're mainly Americans in the forum, with a few exceptions. Being as such, we have no clue about Cuban wholesalers we can't use :D

Gresh is correct. The American government does not allow its own citizens the freedom to trade with any country in the world. It is also against the law for them to visit those countries.

Try contacting Kyle in Vancouver. If that fails the Cuban Embassey in Ottawa and trade offices in Toronto and Montreal are eager to help Canadians and Americans wishing to trade in Cuba. (Americans trade through Canadian agents or corporations and Americans visit Cuba through Vancouver, Toronto Montreal, Calgary Ottawa and Edmonton direct flights.)

Thanks Wayne

Leave it up to Canadians to make a quick buck using stolen private property in Cuba. They also send their radioactive waste as well as trash down to Cuba. Its also a good place for canadians to get laid for a cheap price.

Which stolen property are you referring to? The property stolen from the Cuban people by the Florida capitalists, perhaps?

You need to know that Canadians do not go down to Cuba for the women. We have plenty here.

Canadians enjoy the friendly peacefull loving people and want to help the Cuban people in any way we can. That is why we are the largest investors (on their terms) and provide more tourists than other countries.

You need to know that many US firms trade through Canadian companies and tens of thousands of Americans visit Cuba every year through Canadian and Mexican portals.

I was planning to go there in early December to set up a marine fish sale business but postponed the trip because I had travellled to the Middle East.

Mostly imported.

I think its important to note that Cuba is making some efforts to try and restrict development and explotation of their shores and marine life. They know as soon as the US opens up the travel that the island will be come an economic boom town and plenty of hotels and the such will be built.

I agree. But, they will continue to be owned by the Cuban people.

I think Canadians might change their toons if Cuba was within swimming distance of Canada's coast line.
Not having to deal with the potential millions of "Boat People" or having had missiles in the past pointed at your cites ninety miles away ............has allowed our frigid friends to the North all the benefits a third world travel destination can bring .....without any of the responsibilities those within close proximity have had to confront.

Oh come on Kalk, Knuckehead the Soviet-US dispute over missles planned for Cuba occured over fourty (40) years ago.

Industry currently imports fish and coral from their former enemy, Viet Nam, even though they were defeated by that enemy and atrocities were commited by the enemy.

This industry forum should press for re-opening the ornamental fish trade with Cuba or, do you feel it is a waste of time at this time?

Actually, as soon as the cuban people are allowed to have a wonderful free capitalist government like us, then we can talk....

You really shouldn't address your comments to me though, I have nothing to do with your industry, I only have one fish tank and its always in bad shape.

Maybe you should keep you comments directed towards your fellow industry people, you know, the other people here that, exactly like you, are the real movers and shakers in the Ornamental fish trade.

Huh?? What do you mean by this? My family had everything they owned confiscated from them in the late 50's and now part of their lands are a military school but another part has been turned into a massive canadian owned hotel.

You need to know that Canadians do not go down to Cuba for the women. We have plenty here.

The majority of the tourists there are Canadian, and the sex trade is running rampant there.

This is why I supported the HELMS-BURTON proposal that got shot down in congress. This would have allowed people whose property was stolen from them by Castro back in the 50's and is now being profited from by Canadian and US Firms via Canada.

Its really funny that you are all high and mighty for the rights of the fishies but dont give a second thought to doing business with a tyranical dictator that is responsible for the deaths and opression of many. [/b]

Naesco,
It is funny that you think you are so welcome in any of the Caribbean islands! I recall being in Grand Cayman and witnessing all of the Canadian people that come down for the sweet upperclass jobs that pay well while leaving the Caymanians to do all of the crappy jobs. Many of the Caymanians that i spoke with, were not happy with Canada and the double standards that are put forth by the United Kingdom. They say that it is very easy for the Canadians or UK people to come into their country to work but on the flipside they are not welcome. I cant believe you have no beef with Fidel! Many people on many different islands in the Caribbean will tell you about "feife" and how he has his military undercovers kidnap people just for saying one word of opposition.I think you should change your name to Naive.Just wait until Cuba gets long range missiles that can hit your white flag waiving butt, then come and talk to these patriots!

Jayson,
After looking at your web site I'm curious. Are you a brick and mortar store or a home based internet ship out store? Also does Canada have retailers collect sales tax on out of area sales?
Thanks,
Mitch

Dizzy,
We are an import company.we do mostly wholesale and reatail. We used to do alot of etail but not much any more. Our website is very old, as we do not concentrate on it any more. We have 3000 sq feet of retail space with aprox 7000 gallons of water. We are looking at purchasing a larger building in the very near future. Canada has 2 basic taxes PST (Provincial sales tax) and GST (goods and services tax). If you sell in your own province, the customer must pay both taxes. If you sell out of province the customer only pays the GST. hope this helps clear up any questions you may have.

Thanks Jayson that's interesting. I hope vitz took notes on the comment on not shipping out much anymore. Sounds to me like the day needs to come when internet sales are subject to the same taxes as regular retail, both in our country and yours.
Mitch
