THAT IS THE PROTECTED SPECIES OF SEA FAN IN FLORIDA AND OTHER COLOR VARIATIONS LIKE IT. It is considered the "sea fan" by
Florida officials and the only illegal gorg. to take possesion of.
Now who dosent understand Florida law? Laughing
If you do not believe me (as I am sure you do not) simply email the good folks at FWCC where you got the link from and ask for a photo.
next!!!!!!!!!!!!.........

Fragmaster, a direct quite from the thread where I clarified:

galleon":1n3qsmxh said:
For clarification for anyone reading this thread: Harvesting of ANY stony coral species (INCLUDING Porites spp.) from Florida waters is ILLEGAL. Collection of Millepora spp. is also ILLEGAL. Collection of any gorgonians of the genus Gorgonia is ILLEGAL.

For review of what is legal to harvest and the appropriate bag limits:

http://myfwc.com/marine/recreational/recharvestmls.htm

Now, can you kindly explain where I was WRONG DUDE?

Furthermore, your attempt to correct me actually contains inaccuracies:
it is not only the purple seafan Gorgonia ventalina that is illegal to take, but also Gorgonia flabellum, the Venus seafan, that is not legal to take.

Are those the only two true Gorgonians in Fla waters?
You said that all Octos in the species Gorgonia are non takers.
I beleive your correct, perhaps Fragmaster was under the assumption that
golden sea rods ,corky fingers, etc are true Gorgonias.
Just to finn ish him off .........I mean to complete the disussion
Can you clarify? Thanks.

I have to say something to Fragmaster too.

Jesus christ on a crutch, if you are going to write and complain to a government agency and you don't want to be thought of as a freakin wacko, at least take your email and run it through a spell checker.

And the Caps thing is hilarious, I can almost see you spitting mad while you are typing in all caps.

I am going to take the next hour and devote it to reading the 4 page locked thread in your honour!

:D

Dear Mr. Johnson,
Thank you for your expressed concern about our native marine life.
Unfortunately this type of thing is all to common in the State of Florida.
If the events of the excursion happen exactly as stated it would indeed be a direct violation of Florida State comercial, and leasure fishing laws.
This matter will be investigated fully and thoroughly.
Sincerely,

Please take a look at what local Florida LFS is getting ready to do.
I find this act DISGUSTINGLY REPREHENSIBLE!
Somthing should be done about this. This is effectively telling people " It is ok to rape the reef and we will show you how if you pay us!"
They are offering an "all you can carry colection excursion" under the guise of a normal fishing expedition (IN THIER OWN WORDS ON THIER OWN WEBSITE!!) I know MANY honest hard working people in Florida that collect coral ,and fish LEGALY as a soul source of income.
Things like this if left unchecked will not only destroy the hobby, and industry, but the reef its self!

Please get back to me on this, reguarding legality and current Laws.
Sincerely,
Duane Johnson

Fare enough.
I am sorry I took your interest in this as only that of instegation.
It just realy came acrossed that way with your line of questioning to me.
As well with your email to some one whom you thought was a supplier of mine. I took that to mean you were tying to let my supplier believe I was playing both sides of the fence and trying to get him shut down. Which I am not because he is a legal collector, who adheres strictly to the bag limits the state of florida sets forth,as does Tom, and many other above board collectors in Florida.
Then ofcourse came others who saw what they thought was a blood sport and joined in.
My selling ricordia on ebay, or buying ricordia from a wild collector ( who also propogates as well) has little to no bearing on this matter what so ever. As I said though I operate above board. I don not need a liscense as I have no store frot or web site, and I do not meet the requirements income wise to pay income tax on it. As well I propogate my stock as much as I can. (I have the pics to prove it Smile )
I answered every question you gave me with facts.
Proved them to be true, and some were proven before I even got a chance to post it. Emailed them, and then tunred them into the FWCC before I even posted here or anywhere after I got thier response (which was nothing at all like my post BTW).
What I ,LFS,and retail wholsale out fits do that are above board, do
not even hold a candle to this thing man. This in my mind (and apreantly the WFCC'smind as well as Ijust got a return mail from them letting me know this type of thing is illegal and they are going to investigate it further I will Pm you or post the email if you wish?)
There are somtimes fine lines between right and wrong in our hobby, but to me this is wrong in plain view.

I can't even start to be swayed by your cause when I can't even follow your writing.

Course, if you are not American, if you are for instance from Hong Kong, or the Netherlands, then I apologize and say instead your command of the English language is quite, how do we say in America? Stunning?

There, I will help you out with your letter.

I am not insulting you by the way, its more like constructive critisizm. IF you want to be taken seriously, then you need to be able to form your arguments in a decent, organized, well thought out manner.

Having 15 spelling errors in a simple paragraph does not make you look intelligent, or make you look like you actually think about what you are saying.

Really, I am trying to help dude....

By the way,

I looked up 6 words while I was posting the above posts.

What does that say about me?

That's right, I am not that great of a speller.

I just dont care what people think about my typing/spelling skills guy.
I'm not that anal about things like that.

People looking to instegate look for those errors. They try to fule things back up with them in atempts to draw the same type of people back that
joined in the fun in the past.

You don't have to care about your spelling/ typing skills if you don't want to.

If we were talking face to face in person, this issue wouldn't come up at all, I am sure you sound perfectly intelligent. Its when you put those thoughts down on paper and put them out for others to see that spelling becomes an issue.

Surely you can understand that?
