  1. Wow, check out this new halide and fixture

From IceCap: If you look at the PAR results Sanjay got testing our new pendant and his results for 250-watt MH bulbs (both linked to in Greg's article) you'll see we're in the 250-watt MH PAR range already. Andy
  2. question about icecap pendant system in advanced aquarist

From IceCap: I'll copy Greg on this thread. Historically we have offered ballasts that needed wiring by the end user. We displayed at MACNA pre-wired heatsink ballast boxes that have a plug, a qucik disconnect and an on/off switch. It makes for a nice clean look and easy plug & play features...
  3. A Question about Garf.

From IceCap: Don't discount VHO lighting, though I use 1/2 MH myself, I've seen some knock out VHO only reef tanks that defy what's accepted as basic lighting rules. I can specifically vouch for GARFs clean-up crews which I have purchased. Everything arrived alive and healthy. Andy
  4. Direct fan to MH

The only problem a fan can have on MH performance is when the fan blows directly on the bulb. As long as the bulb is in a closed fixture, cooling the air between the tank and the fixture will only increase your evaporation rate, which will bring down the water's temperature. Andy
  5. Best 250 Watt HQI Ballast?

That missed the mark. And I thought I was moving off topic. Andy
  6. Best 250 Watt HQI Ballast?

From IceCap: My biased 2 cents then would be a screw-in 175-MH powered by our original 175 ballast. For a review on bang for the buck, http://www.icecapinc.com/article2000.htm It's not HQI but packs a lot of punch. Andy
  7. Best 250 Watt HQI Ballast?

From IceCap: Our somewhat crude light output tests have shown our electronic ballast to exceed conventional ballasts on DE 250-watt MH bulbs. I prefer these tests be done by independent reviewers. Remember, just because you're saving electricity doesn't mean it's at the expense of light...
  8. Best 250 Watt HQI Ballast?

From IceCap: Also, our new electronic MH ballasts use a sweeping frequency technology that runs a bulb 40-70KHz., which means it will light anything, can't flicker and by using such a high frequency the arc is constant and not pulsing 60 times per second (as it would on a 60Hz. application). Andy
  9. How long do the VHO actinic bulbs last?

From IceCap: We suggest when using an IceCap VHO ballast you replace actinic lamps every year. Other VHO lamps can go two years, especially if you use quality bulbs like URI lamps. Andy
