  1. Too much current?

Well, this makes me feel a bit better. They seem to be pretty happy so far, and have found the eddies (sp?) in the tank as well. They've not taken to the anemone that I've gotten in there, but from what I've read, they can be particular. Thanks again guys.
  2. Too much current?

I have: 2 Atman PH-1100 power heads (1380 l/h, roughly 360 G/h each) but one of them is powering my protein skimmer. This is a 20G high tank.
  3. Aux's 20G Tank

No pictures yet, but I've added more corals. Kenya tree and Xenia, a small leather, some button polyps, a couple anemone's, as well as two clown fish. Horray! I HOPE to get pictures soon.
  4. Too much current?

So I've decided to try again with fish in my reef tank. My first experience lasted about 4 days and I was so broken hearted and felt bad for the poor guy that didn't make it I've not thought about another for months. Anyway, I got a pair of clowns tonight, and watching them swim around their...
  5. (First Reef Tank Ever) *** 600gal Display *** 1300gal System

Wow.. just wow. That's all I can say.
  6. Polyps and mushrooms and bears? oh my!

So both of them are? The body structures are totally different. Maybe the little ones just haven't had time to grow, or are the little ones what you meant? :o
  7. Polyps and mushrooms and bears? oh my!

I guess I'll look at getting a smaller heater then. Any ideas on the mysterious hitchhikers on the mushroom rock?
  8. Aux's 20G Tank

I figure since I'm making my home here, I might as well post my tanks info. 20G High tank 150W heater 2 Atman PH-1100 power heads (1380 l/h, roughly 360 G/h each) 1 Typhoon Protein Skimmer (up to 110 Gallons, one of the power heads run this) 20lbs of live sand ~18lbs of live rock Coralife...
  9. Polyps and mushrooms and bears? oh my!

Not using MH, using compact florescent. They do sit pretty close to the surface of the water, but even when they aren't on the temperature is still not in the 70's where it should be. Ambient room temp. is around 74.
  10. Polyps and mushrooms and bears? oh my!

Ok. Got a couple good pictures of the only corals in my tank. I started out with something easy, green star polyps, and saw some mushrooms (don't know what kind) that also looked good. The rock w/ the mushrooms have some other hitchhikers that I have no clue what they are. The first one...
  11. I saw him...

The crab definitely has rounded pinchers. He's pretty 'hairy' too. I'm glad to hear that he's mostly harmless. I've been keeping an eye on the other corals in my tank, to make sure that he's not been munching on anything. He stays tucked up underneath a rock mostly, and I've only seen him...
  12. I saw him...

I'm pretty sure it's a Mithrax type crab that made it through. I found his 'spots', now and can usually find him at least once a day. He's about the size of a silver dollar. As for the star. It's white with black banding from the best I can tell. This thing lives INSIDE a rock. All I've...
  13. I saw him...

After 3 1/2 weeks of live rock, sitting, growing, it was all perfect, correct. One coral (green star polyp) was added with a small clean up crew, just to see what they would do. Maybe 10 or so crabs, mostly blue legs. And I saw him... A medium sized crab that I can only describe as...
  14. Took some pics today...

i hope to get some shots like this soon...
  15. Anemone or Sponge?

Its up on the top of the rock, and gets a lot of light. I guess I'll file it under 'let it grow' for now and hope for the best. When I look at it closely, it looks like tubules are starting to form, but it's hard to tell still.
